Wife was up at 530 to go to work and since I was up and in the procrastinating mood, I packed up and went to watch the sunrise...at BSRP .

Got my new target steel target yesterday so I had to put some rounds on it.  If you're at BSRP and see a guy shooting one of these (3 soon), stop and say hi and throw some lead at it.

Check out where the frost melted from the splatter coming from the target

What is that target rated to caliber wise?

Not really sure. I based it off a design I saw in a class and had a friend build it for me. I forgot to specify the size of the plate and he used .25". I put 350 .40cal and 50 .380 on it today and it held up ok. The largest deformation was a hit about .25" from the edge. I'm going to have him build another one with 3/8" plate and see how it holds up.  If it does, I'll build another or make he plate thicker if I needs to.

This target should hold up to a 45 but it'll die a quick death with any rifle round. It's standard hardness steel. I've got an 18" circle and 8x8" plate made of 500 brinnel steel for rifles.

The nice thing is it quickly breaks down into 3 pieces for easy transport.

I found out the hard way the rating of a large man sized steel target one day while attending a training with AK Tac. Steve thought it'd be fun for me to bring my M60E4 to the range and demonstrate how I could slap on a 100rd box and run the course...so I did    It's just that no one thought to replace the steel target with a paper one before I began, so by the time I was done the sucker was pretty mangled up    I laughed

Yeah, Steve said his reaction was "wow, look at it mess up steel" and then "holy shit, he's shooting my target!"
