So I got my new flash hider and I dont know how to put it on( all previous ones have been pre-attached). Do I need any fancy tools or vices or will a cressant wrench do it? Reason I am asking about this in the HT forum is if I need tools I can trade use of tools for beer.

12" crescent wrench and a barrel vise. Tighten until you hit the crush washer then back off tighten more, etc, until it indexes where you want it.

what kind of flash hider?

A wrench untill it indexes to where u want it.

vices and receiver blocks are very helpful. I have em if you need em

didn't even see the part about beer. Beer is good, ammo is good too.

It is a YHM phantom and I think that I got it on, I didnt back on and off like you are talking about just put washer on just like the previous one was on(pointy side of O facing down and then tightened until it was on pretty tight. Will my not tightening and backing off and re tightening cause it to loosen up over time?

link to flash hider

the shipping and such on this order was what did it, they actually agreed to ship via flat rate when i called and asked, got 4 Pmags(5.56), flash hider,  and 2 5.45 mags, for under 100 bucks. I am really happy. onyl draw back is they ship on only thursdays.

Sounds like you got it on....

I don't have a block or vice so I put an old GI mag in and step on the mag...  That usually does the trick.

No that's fine, sometimes you have to get a little more umph to tighten the washer, backing it up a bit gives you a running start so to say. The phantoms are good flash supressors, I just installed my first one a few weeks back. I beleive a 52c or 5c2 or something like that.
