Looks like every proposition is in position to pass

Thoughts/feelings?

Surprised.

Call me crazy, but I actually thought we were going to get enough conservatives out to the polls this time to make a difference.  Especially considering what's going on nationally.

A couple more seats going to conservatives this round would have sure helped Mayor Sullivan help us.  To much to ask I guess.

Makes me much more nervous about the Gubernatorial election this fall too.  I absolutely believe if the guy who I'm going to support doesn't win we are in for a huge shit storm.

F.B.O.

End / thoughts/feelings for the moment...

No doubt.  We are still in the middle of a budget deficit for Anchorton.  Must have been more BHO supportors imported from South of the border recently.  Looks like the assembly is going to see a little change at least.  I don't think changing one seat on the assembly or school board will change anything though.

The turnout was horrible.  I sure hope the energy that seemed to exist for moving back to a limited gov't isn't just a flash in the pan.  I wish people would quit using the gov't to steal more of my money.  They're welcome to donate as much of their money as they wish to whatever cause they support - but quit stealing mine.

Why is it that most Anchorage voters don't care enough to spend a few minutes protecting their pocketbook with a vote?

Horrible turnout, passed bonds, and more "centrists" to the assembly...we all know what that means

I don't get involved in political discussion very often but Prop 1 helped me out a bunch. There is really bad flooding to some of the houses on my street and all the other streets got fixed over the last 20 years except mine. There trying to get a new store drain put in with foot drains to each property. Residents would have had to dish out the money for this to happen. I don't have the specific number but it was something like 15-30k.

I can't believe the turn out we had...  How is it that people don't understand that the small local elections are the ones that affect your daily life most?

16ish percent not impress you much  Put the election in the fall and split the stupid school board into representation districts and you would hopefully see some increase in turnout, but generally people just bitch and don't vote.  Don't vote = no right to complain.

I think that there is so much apathy anymore that people just dont feel like their vote "counts"
The liberal/union front has a VERY strong voting block that is out in every election
Take that away I would bet you see sub 10% turn out

Funny you mention the union vote.  I stopped by and helped Andy Clary and Bob Griffin wave some signs for a while last night.  Never met Super Dave before but he was right there helping out also.  Couldn't help myself when we were all done and gathered around putting signs away.  I said, " I just want you to know I'm a member of three unions in this town and you saw which corner I was on."  Noone really knew what the hell to say.  LOL!

I recently had a few words with one of my union reps also.  We were batting around how I was pissed that this union always supports the screw up employees.  They know I'm conservative to the core and put me on the spot asking if I voted for Dan Sullivan for Mayor.  I said, You're damn right I did, and so did just about everyone else here.  Man they were pissed about that.  I told them they always support the demonrat candidate to which they quickly responded, "That's a lie!"  OK...Then who was the last republican candidate you guys supported?

Silence...birds chirping...

AFLCIO affiliated...

Man I hope with the vote screw up and the absentee ballots that Andy pulls this out.

The low turn out for Muni elections is why I love them so much.  The Obama voters don't even know there's an election.  10% turn out means my vote counts more.  I can't tell you how many razor-close local elections I have seen. Your vote counts way more in local elections.
