So I was at one of the ranges today and ran into a group that had both their guns out and their beer out.
I went to sight in my rifle for the start of moose season and went out to an informal range down this way. The group I ran into are mostly good people but someare so so people. I just wanted to get my shhoting done and out of there. I can not tell you how many time someone pointed their damn gun my direction. I realy hate shooting with others.

Yeah, that's bad news. Was it a public range? Can't be a monitored range as I can't imagine then allowing booze on a range. I have been to birchwood and seen empty beer cans. That could be people shooting them, but then why would they be in the porta-potty/. |

I've packed up and left when I've seen the Coors tops pop.
After hours at Birchwood can be pretty scary sometimes. Then again, the various Rambo Rest Stops in the Valley can be nearly suicidal to shoot at. We were at one on Turnagain Arm once before it was seriously trashed. A guy walks up with his HK93, hand on the grip, finger on trigger and pack of goodies in his other hand. He sets up about 20 yards away. After a couple of mag dumps (sans ear and eye pro), from the hip, he lights up a doobie. I look (okay, I stared), he looks back, pulls the doob from his lips and extends his arm, offering it to me. I hold up my hand and mouth, "no thanks." We started packing up, and as I left, he reached into his pack and pulled out a Corona. Uh-mazing. |
| WOW! Just f-ing amazing the stupidity of people.......I think accidental death is the way the gene pool gets cleaned. What is the rule??? Oh yeah, you don't eat or drink while shooting firearms, unless you are in combat and need some energy. I guess I like it when I shoot alone of someone that knows what they are doing. Everyone has had an accident - like I shot a stap on ar-15 when the muzzlebreak flipped the strap infront the barrel and I had fired the round - but damn I was sober and not pill popping or smoking a joint. Yes, I felt like a retard! |

Never heard Wanna see something? Here, hold my beer... In the 60's and 70's it was no big deal to drive and drink. Some things change, some things stay the same. I would rather people be stoned than drunk in most situations if it had to be one or the other. Neither have a place mixing with firearms though. Maybe if they were alone in the remote woods, then hopefully the jack ass only shoots himself and takes care of the problem nature's way. |

I agree ...Leave the beer at home for AFTER the range. Same goes for those who smoke pot.
However ... anyone remember when they use to sell beer at shooting matches back in the 70's- 80's? I think even Camp Perry did at one point. Glad to see that practise was eliminated!!! |

My previous range in Pittsburgh had a full bar on-site. Always seemed a little strange to think about potentially driving home smelling like liquor with a trunk full of guns. Pretty wild but they never had any problems with it. This wasn't a restaurant that served beer. It was a full-on bar.
"full bar in the clubhouse open from noon to midight, which is the same times the indoor pistol range is open " http://forum.pafoa.org/allegheny-27/8415-allegheny-country-rifle-club.html |
