Looks like it's flared up; talked to a gal that works here, she came in to grab her paycheck, filled the water jugs/tank, and drop her pets off at a friends place here in town.   She and her parents (and neighbors) are clearing around thier place(s) as fast as they can and prepping to evac...the water is in case they get a chance to soak things down before they have to bail.  Been looking for more info on the fire, what was in the paper didn't say a whole lot.

If it's needed, I've got a bit of room in the shed that can be used for temp storage if anyone is out that direction and wants to move some things out now.

Just drop me a holler.

I live on the west side of Fairbanks
When I went home last night about 2/3 of the sky was the normal grey,  The other 1/3 over my house and surronding hills was this dark brown with orange tones.  VERY spooky to say the least.

Visibility in Delta dropped to less than 1/2 mile since around 2:00. Yesterday, viz was greater than 5 miles.

I hope it rains like a Florida hurricane soon.

I'm counting on the fair rains this year.  If the pattern keeps we should get some rain in the next day or two as the fair starts.  If not, we is boned.

4 fires in the fbks area.  This is getting insane.  On the up side, 2-3 years from now the moose hunting will be incredible :D

The dome on top of Murphy Dome is one of our USAF Long Range Radar stations, same as here. Sometimes I work there when the permanent guy goes on vacation so I can actually go home each night like most of you lucky bastards. Think I'll call up the tech there and ask him how he likes being on top of a mountain during a fire...

Good solid, steady rain this morning.  That should help a bit.

Wonder where all the hotshot crews from around here are?
Haven't heard of any new crews being put together either.

Hope you guys get more rain.
