Hey guys, I just bought a Dillon 550b and am looking around for powder, primers, and bullets, and am not seeing any worthwhile pricewise.

All the places to order from in the lower 48 will cost an arm and a leg to get up here.

Looking to reload .45 and .223.

Any advice?  What do you guys do?

I usually get my brass and bullets from Brassman, Polygunbags or Wideners. Powder and primers....you're pretty much on your own. Here in squarebanks there seems to be a powder/primer drought.

wideners will ship in the USPS flat rate box, huge savings on shipping on brass/bullets-especially the bullets. I will only buy from dealer who do the same.

powder/primers are better to order through a group buy and split shipping, or just buy in bulk.

last way is buy when your down in the 48 and ship to yourself.

Damn near impossible to legally ship primers as a non business with special haz mat certification

Dear FBX Arfcomers...

Some food for thought, I am sure some of you read in GD about how Sportsmans is having some heavy-duty business/logistics issues.

As far as I could tell (which isnt say too too much) Sportsmans was THE spot in town for components.  Are there any stores that I am over looking?  I think I remember seeing some stuff for sale at the sports store at Ft. WW.

If Sportsmans goes tits up, or continues its craptacular trend of having nothing in stock....would any of you be interesting in doing group buys?

I know group buys can be a sticky situation but I would like to keep it simple.  common calibers, mininum order requirements...

I am just kicking it around in my head but I would like to know if there would be any interest, and if we could figure out what calibers we could all agree on.

The shipped has to have a very specific haz mat license (multi day course) to ship primers.
A normal joe blow can ship powder, primed brass or loaded ammo, but no primers (atleast not legally)

With a reasonable amount of notice, I would be good for 16-24 pounds of powder (2-3 kegs) and 10-20K primers

Ammoman is on the pennisula.  He does commercial reloading.  Robert Wiseman I think is his name.  I have a card and email for him at work.

Thanks-

Someone should see when he is ordering and tag onto his order to split shipping.

In Fairbanks, Arctic Gunworks, on Kalakaket Street behind the University avenue Safeway, has primers in stock.  Large magnum rifle primers were $35/1000, which seems like a reasonable price.

The Wasilla and Anchorage stores are having the same issues.  Shelves are bare and no one can say when the trucks will be here.  It's getting a little frustrating.
