What is your current price for regular Unleaded gas today?

Mine went up a dime  today to $3.97
4/16/2008 7:06:59 PM EDT
[#1]
Ours jumped $08 most places between Monday and Tuesday
Dielsel is $4.21/gal now

Depends on what side of town you are on, but I've been seeing $3.55 around town.  I hardly drive my truck anymore
4/16/2008 8:37:51 PM EDT
[#3]
$3.55 sounds about right down (Anchorage) here.
Now, if I only had a wife's car to drive around town I would be a happy camper as I really don't want to give up my 4x4 even if it's only a V6.

I bet this summer in Homer we will see more than $5.00 a gallon.

Were stuck at $4.68 untill the river goes out and the fuel barge comes in. We will see over $5.00 then.

With the spot price of oil forecast to push up around $125 per barrel, we will see gas around 4.50 a gallon this summer in Anchorage, and up to $5.30 a gallon in rural areas of the state.  One suggestion,  go to the junk yard and find an old Yugo to drive.  Your average truck will cost about $150 to $200 on an average fill-up.

In Kaneohe Town, Hawaii i just filled up with the cheapest regular at $3.68

Looks like the price of the nicer large SUV's and truck's will be going down.

I had planned on getting a rental on some of my trips this summer and exploring the cities after work was done for the day

Dont know if that will happen now

The local natives here in Kaktovik get their DFA (Diesel Fuel, Arctic grade) for a a buck something, well below $2.00 in any case due to government subsidy.  Meanwhile, we (Air Force) have to buy the very same fuel for just under $5.  It's odd that those who provide the discount, don't get the discount.

Being out of town so much of the time, using fuel purchased by the USAF, fuel prices don't really affect me.  I don't have a house so no heating fuel bills either.  Sounds good until you realize you have no life and are in the middle of nowhere.  I'm trying to change all that.

AK MIke,

Are you the one running around the Bronco with a Polar Bear chasing you in the photos on KTVA?

No, it wasn't me but I did find out who.  Check out the update on the  Man gets chased by a Polar Bear in Kaktovic thread.

My dad just talked to a manger of one of the local gas stations and it does not look good. Gas will at least be $6.00 a gal. Be a lot of trips with the lund boat with 40 hp motor. I hate going slow.

Have you seen the gas prices in Europe....even with their heavy taxes....paying 8.00 buck a gallon is just insane.  I can't imagine what it would do to shipping in the U.S. if gas was that high......

Better start rolling out the hydrogen powered cars...........

It will be interesting to see what happens when gas hits $6 a gallon here.  I'll bet $5 is when people really start going "whoa" and $6 is just fucking insane.  We'll for sure see $4 a gallon this summer.

Damn... gas was $1.45 a gallon what I got my truck new in '03.

In May of 1999, I drove to meet my wife for a family gathering in Wasilla.  Gas was less than $1 a gal on that trip

Ah the good ole days

Development is some time out, but it will be interesting to see if this has any effect on oil price today.  I would only expect a small blimp in price, to be reversed later in the day.

today.Brazil locates largest oil reserves in 30 years

Similar to AK Mike, fuel is 3.50 a gallon - Gas and 4.25/gal - Diesel here in Point Lay.  The subsidized pricing based on the States price cost equalization program drops heating oil to .1.50.

I went to the Arctic Economic Summit in Kotz last summer.  People in Ambler and Shungnak were upwards of 9.00 for gas then

I am in Anchorage today and have found the best price is $3.51 a gallon.  That means there is a .46 cent difference between Anch and Homer.

Filled up at Costco yesterday for $3.51 in ANC.  The majority of places I'm seeing $3.59-$3.64 around town

ETA:  Pg. 2 is mine.  I DEMAND you lower gas prices

Homer Hit the $4 plus range today.  It was nice to get some gas in Anchorage for a good price for once.

I guess things are happening faster than I thought.....closing prices for oil up to almost $120 a barrel and gas in Anchorage (from what I heard) are to be priced at near $4.10 a gallon for unleaded  $4.35 for super unleaded.

If this keeps up, we are going to see an economy that is starting to unravel.  Can you imagine that just about  in 1996 we had oil at $9.00 a barrel?

In Homer it has hit $4.07 and will go back up the middle of next week again.

Good thing is the PFD will be the biggest check to date.

I wonder at what point this starts to become a major concern?  We're already seeing the price of EVERYTHING go up because of the cost of shipping.  What happens when we continue to sit back and hope the price of gas goes down and diesel hits $8-9 a gallon?  Can that happen?

I'm not an "end of the world, sky is falling" kind of guy I'm usually the first to claim people have their tinfoil hats to tight.  But, I'm starting to think the stack of guns I have downstairs may come in handy in the future if current trends continue.

PS, MGNiko... thanks for the ammo bud.

They were talking about the PFD the other day on the radio and said it may not be as big as expected because of the 5 year average deal and such.  I hope they are wrong, Im going to need it to heat my home

I certainly agree with you there.  When I see the "lower income" folks start getting rid of their sattelite TV and cell phones I'll know the limit is close

I did post this in the SF last week:  I was moving (6) 5 gallon cans full of gas from my storage area to my car so that I could rotate the gas.  I put the gas cans next to my house, at the back of my driveway next to my backyard fence.  A call came in & I had to run to the store (for the pregnant wife).  When I got back someone stole all 30 gallons of gas  I bet we see these kinds of thefts more and more, plus syphon of tanks.

You gotta be kidding.............you left then on your property and they still dissapeared...I can't beleive the shit people do.  I guess I'll need to buy some razor wire around the property........

Yep, at the far end of my driveway, next to the house, right at my backyard fence.  Those that have picked up ammo here can envision where I mean.  Both my wife and I were PISSED!  But at the same time it gave me a good reminder; when things get hairy theft goes up.

Well this week gas hit $4.07.  There is a lot of gas stolen in this area but we are all going to have to tie things down a little better than before.

It almost makes you want to spike a gas can with something that doesnt play so well with engines and just leave it sitting out

Yeah I was thinking 4.5 gallons of water with .5 of gas....just to make it smell "normal"

Well this is my Friday and that means gas prices should change again this week.  My bet is the greater Homer area should be about $4.15 next.

Here is the truth about oil prices and their tie to the pump.....This has been under study since 2000 and not a thing is being done, because your politicians want high gas prices............
