About 1 week ago, two men (18 and 16) hid inside Frontier Outfitters until it closed.  Once it closed they began moving around the store and tripped motion alarms.  Police and AP responded and saw nothing out of the oridanry nor saw anything while doing a search.  Alarm sounded again and AP again responded and again saw nothing suspect.  When the manager arrived early to open the store he was attacked and beaten.  These two men stole 31 firearms from the store, mostly high end pistols, but also 3 "assualt rifles", 1 of which was a WWII commerative Garand.  Both subjects have been caught and charged, the 18 yo had fled to Anchorage were he was caught and the 16yo was caught in Fairbanks.  They have only been able to recover 23 of the 31 guns.

If you hear of a gun that has a price too good to be true or are planning on purchaing a gun from a private party it would be smart to call you local Police/Trooper station and ask them to run the serial number.  This is actually a good plan anyways, but at this point its worth being extra vigilent.

On a side note, I was in there buying ammo the other day (sale) and teh freaking sale clerk was telling a customer how they did it, what security protocols and hardware was in place and what they were planning to add to prevent it from happening again.  I would expect that she knew and trusted this fellow, but she had no idea who I was and I overheard the conversation.
