I have a friend who is facing some hard times.  Amongst all of this is his 11 year old daughter.
I would like to send something down (not too expensive) that would be age appropriate and uniqe.
Any ideas?

Eleven? That is a toughie . Let me get back to you because nothing pops right out .

Normally for a girl I would say some kind of Alaska Jewelry , but I am not sure if that would be appropriate or not .

Jewlery isnt probably appropriate

I was thinking something cool that she could show her friends, take to school for show and tell, etc

Like a milepost, only for kids

Clearly, an mp3 player.

Assuming they have a computer.

If not... head to campus and look around for flyers, pick up some phone numbers for a half-decent $150 desktop.  She'd like that a lot more than anything she can take to school anyway, if she's got any sense.
