It was sent in ASAP. Payoff? I don't know about you, but I plan on living in this state for a fair portion of my life... hopefully most of it. I certainly don't want to be paid off. If I were to accept a "pay-off", it would have to equal, or come near to, how much I would recieve annualy from the dividend if, I were only planning on living here so much longer. So if I planned to stay for 15 more years, the payoff would have to be somewhere around...15-20k. |

The numbers they were stating for the pay-off were in the 25-50K range. They should have done it. As far has having to equal the amount you would recieve annually goes... Who says you will continue to get it annually? They dip further and further into it every year and many want to eliminate it, however, it would be political suicide and they know it. I'm all for the payoff. |
| I say pay itoutthen institute a sales or income tax , and then be done with it . I would throw 1900 of mine towars a wilson CQB and send the rest to the retirement account , have to get some tax shelter somewhere . maybe that STI Ranger 2 i have been looking at. but realisticly the legislaters are going to get the dividend just a matter of time . |

Yeah, the 25k payoff is what I was talking about. If I had to choose a tax, it'd be sales. I work hard for my money and the bums, drunks, welfares, ect would be exempt from paying taxes while I do to support them. Especially with this progressive tax. I'd actually have more income in my pocket if I made LESS money because I'd be forced to pay a higer tax bracket while others don't pay as much or any. Back to taxing people that work hard to support people that don't. Get real. If it was a sales tax, the bums, drunks, welfares & loosers would all contribute. I'd feel a bit better about that VS me filling the state bank while they just sit around unemployed & do nothing. But, if they did the payout & used 100% of the fund program to pay for state services, we wouldn't need a tax anyway. We don't have a budget problem...we have a spending problem! |
| No one seems to want them to touch the PFD, but if keeping means a state income tax, I would certainly rather give up the PFD. In my income bracket, I would shell out a crap load more for state tax than what I get from PFD. However, I would prefer a lump sum and pay sales tax. I voted against the sales tax in Fairbanks last time because I would rather they just round it to 5 or 10 cents rather than the PITA pennies cause. Like the PFD, you'll never get the people to vote to lose money, or pay more, so they just keep upping the mill rate to compensate. That's going to hurt when I finally get around to getting some land... |
