| Hey anyone been threw any good instructors here in the anchorage area , thinking on takinga defensive pistol course in the spring , looking into who would be a good guy /gal to talk to |
| There is a dude name Steve at a shop called Alaska Tactical. I believe that is correct. About 1 - 2 years back I participated in his Tactical Shotgun class. He seemed pretty in to it, and far as I can tell he seemed quite knowledgable. If I remember correctly he did also offer training in tactical pistol. Good luck in your search. |
| And if you do have some luck in your search, please post the results as I am sure there are at least a few more that would be interested in local training. It sucks having to spend all those extra $$$ getting to a class in the lower 48, then getting to hump it in a hot desert. |

Hey Sig40, I've attended both Front Sight (www.frontsight.com) in Nevada, and Firearms Academy of Seattle (www.firearmsacademy.com) in Chehalis. I'd go back to either one. In fact, I plan to attend another class at FAS this summer, hopefully a rifle course. The facilities are good, and the instructors and curriculum great. Front Sight is much more expensive, but their facilities are world class. By the way -- Sig P239/9MM and Sig P229/40S&W here. |
Steve's shop is right down the street from me.... Although I haven't taken any of his classes I know a few people that have and I've been to his shop several time. He's a class act. You may pay a little more then others around twon but I believe ya get what ya pay for. One of these days I'll get around to taking some of his classes. DG84 |
