Hi all,

Did anyone happen to make it to the large firearm auction this past weekend in Boone? I really wanted to make it, but wife and weather had other plans. If you did happen to make it, do you happen to remember what the 716's brought or the Barrett .338? I would be curious on prices in general, but I would of been bidding on the three guns previously mentioned had I went.

Thanks!

I am curious about the Barrett also. I didn't feel like driving to Boone in the snow Saturday.

Wow.

- Auctioneer just emailed me back. Said it went for $6900. I didn't think there would be that kind of money getting thrown around.

I had four guns in the auction.  I was going to stop there Saturday morning but literally could not find a parking space.  Hadn't planned on buying anything so I left.  My boss went later in the day, he wrote down about a third of the prices.

Most of the shotguns were in the 200 to 300 range.  The Barret was 6900.  Glocks were upper 400 low 500.  SIGs 500 to 900.  The XD;s were 300, 600 and 900 (!).  The H&R M1 went for 1150.  AR's seemed to be 700 to 800.  Rem 700 were 500 to 775.  The Rem 1100 was 475.  Ruger Range Rifle 475.

Based on what numbers he had it seems handguns were going high.  Nice rifles likewise on the high side.  Nice shotguns also high.  The middle of the road stuff was all over the place but generally at least decent money.  The junk went for junk prices.  Mostly.

All in all it appears to have been a pretty typical gun auction.

ps  Bricks of 22 for $60 each.

People tend to get stupid at auctions. A friend of mine was at an auction in Thornton a few years ago. A RIA 1911 brought $750. Sure, a Barrett is worth what they tend to bring but in most cases the days of cheap auction guns are over. The only thing I can think with the RIA is a phone bidder saw "Rock Island" on a paper list and thought he was getting a GI pistol.

I go to most of the firearms auctions around.

Very rarely is it possible to get a good deal.  I spend most of time there with my mouth gaping open in awe.
