Anyone ever tried one?
Got it in my head to do as lightweight build as possible, sometime down the road.
Looked at EP80s, New Frontier, and Polymer80s.
Pretty sure I can do the machining alright on the two 80%ers and kind of figure that for that price it might be worth a try.

Only thing polymer for the AR that I have is 4 or 5 stripped CavArms MKII complete lower/hand guard setups somewhere downstairs.

we've built on them.  worked on them.  probably won't own them.

when you torque the receiver extension tube, you can watch the lower twist and deflect as much as a 1/4"...  i'm not sure it would hold up to the rigors of genuine battle, but they serve a place as light duty or plinker lowers...

I had my eye on one a while ago to build out as a dedicated .22lr. I've seen plenty at the range and they seemed to hold up fine. Like Septic said I'm not sure I would trust them as battle ready.

I also have concerns about the takedown and pivot pin holes. They seemed like they would fall out of speck quickly if you are changing uppers a lot or field stripping for cleaning.

Although at the current prices I would just pick up a new one.

I've got a New Frontier polymer lower, put about 2000 rounds of 223/556 through it and around 400-500 rounds of 5.45x39 through it. No problems with it whatsoever

Then I would say give it a go. If you machine out the 80% take lots pics and let us know how it turns out.
