| Sisters ex-husband decided to get high as the moon on drugs and then proceed to go into the woods behind his house and cut his own throat. How do I console my sister and her kids? He wasn't a good man in the first place but shit I feel bad. It's hard to believe. |
|
i'm assuming the authorities have either given some direction for grief counseling, or can. beyond that, support, understanding, compassion, and refocus for the kids can probably help. even if you're not religious, seeking a man or woman of the cloth can help provide comfort and perspective when questions are being asked that aren't easy to answer.
in order to help bear a burden, it is important in many cases to help with young ones. even if it is a trip for ice cream or throwing the frisbee at the park, it lends focus on those things that are supremely important at the moment and shifts away from those things that distract us and drag us down. thoughts and prayers for the family... ~michael |
| So far from what I have heard. He got back into doing drugs early last week. He was involved with 2 men that came up from Sioux City that must've been old accuatances from when he use to use, if that makes sense. What I've been told is that he owed them 8 grand and that he knew to much about their operation. He was stabbed in the throat. They dumped him down by the big sioux river. They needed a helicopter to get him out. |
| I read about that in the paper (Le Mars). Definitely a bad situation for your sister and the kids. As has been said, and I'm sure you have, let your sister know that you are there for them and help out however you can. There are plenty of options for counseling in Le Mars or Sioux City, depending on where your sister lives. I can give you a couple names in Le Mars if you need it. As an attorney, I've dealt with most of the therapists here to some degree. |

Not only do we have Texans constantly telling everyone their state is the greatest thing that ever existed, but this coming from a former Iowan. Yo Bradleypig, you can keep it señor. Nobody outside of Texas gives a shit. |

Not only do we have Texans constantly telling everyone their state is the greatest thing that ever existed, but this coming from a former Iowan. Yo Bradleypig, you can keep it señor. Nobody outside of Texas gives a shit. I am an Iowan and went to and graduated from Hinton school and college in Sioux City. Born in Le Mars, Iowa National guard for 14 years in Le Mars unit, lived on Jones street and Court street in Sioux City for a while, worked at IBP cutting meat prior to going to college, cleaned out hog barns on family farms, walked beans during the summer, rouged corn for Pioneer seed, and lived in Spencer for a couple of years. My parents and siblings still live in Sioux City/Le Mars area. Some sweat hog let her boyfriend drive her car (he had no license) and the dirtbag T-boned my brother's car on 4th street resulting in my brother's car being totaled. BF/driver gets out and runs off leaving the sweat hog in her trashed car and to take the heat. Sweat hog did not rat out her BF by providing his name and didn't matter because he had not license and neither had insurance. I saw that some other little turd recently shot at a police officer in Sioux City too. I moved back to Sioux City area from April, 2008 until December, 2008 and worked in Sioux City. I still remember some teenage girl casually flipping me the finger as her little bitch friend cut me off in traffic on my way to work at St. Luke's one afternoon. Some other moron did not even look toward the highway traffic and tried to merge his truck and trailer into the side of my pickup on the HWY 20 bypass around north side of Sioux City. I got to thinking, this shit reminds me of Houston and sort of made me miss living in Houston. December, 2008 I moved back to Texas. I still regularly read the Sioux City Journal and some local newspapers. Sioux City off of Hamilton around 8th street, Court street area, and a fair chunk of South Sioux City have slipped and now remind me of some of the worst neighborhoods in Houston. Murders, robberies, assaults, and drug busts seem a lot more frequent then when I grew up (age birth through age 30ish) in Iowa. I am not saying that Texas is the best place to live. I am saying that Iowa has slipped and the Democrats are making the place into a little California or trying to make it into another liberal dream land. Your attitude (based on my perception of your posted responses) is part of what is causing Iowa to slip. Makes me proud to be an Iowan. |

I totally give a shit about Texas. Well, not Houston, of course. And not the armpit of the universe (El Paso). But certainly parts of Texas, because that is the caring kind of guy that I am. Quoted:

And Enchanted Rock is pretty cool for being some big honking rocks sticking out of the ground out in the middle of nowhere. |

Thanks, they have already been pointed in a direction for that. It was determined that he died of self inflicted knife wounds. I just don't understand how you could do that to yourself. From what I heard from the deputies it was most definitely self inflicted wounds. I was not at the scene when they found him but they had it pretty well under control. I feel for you and your sister. Hopefully she will eventually realize that she will never understand and that it was in no part hers or her kids' fault. |

Our governor's a Republican, genius. And has been for 30 of the last 42 years. Branstad was the last Iowa governor that I voted for before I moved to Texas. A debt that can never be repaid.

Judy Munn
Judy was having mental health issues and one day she worked all day to clean up her apartment and when she was done she laid down on her bed and stuck a knife through her heart. No hesitation maneuvers, one good stroke. I don't recall a history of drug abuse just some mental health issues. No real rhyme or reason. We kept that knife at the PD for years cutting cake with it at several special occasions. One day the knife was gone. Supposedly one of the brass thought the best way to clean up the kitchen was to throw everything out and start over. We sure missed that knife. People are going to do what they think is right regardless of the impact it has on others. It's just the way it is. kwg |

In between fits of laughter I'm seriously wondering if this type of thing happens often... lol, my god |
| 30 some years ago. We didn't get to do much fun stuff after about 1985. Too many lawyers and do-gooders screwing things up. They thought the police were insensitive and refused to understand peoples issues. You know, political correctness. It only got worse. Oh how I long for the good ol' days. We live in a screwed up country. kwg |
