My home owners insurance is do to renew. I think I'm under insured now but I hate paying for the shit, anyway here is my question(s)

1) I own 30 acres have cattle, out buildings, tractor, etc.etc. one agent wants to write a small farm policy but it doesn't cover my quads( WTF!!!!!!)

2) They want to charge me extra for fire arms. Which is fine, but what is a fair rate per $1000.00?

3) Same for my wife's Jewelry.

I usually just renew, BUT I had an incident (a vehicle break in in my driveway) and lost a 22-250, spotting scope, and a cell ph. Lets just say I learned a costly lesson.

I have never had a claim other then the theft.

Thanks in advance!

From what I learned when home owners ins. shopping:

Currently paying $600 per year for 150K replacement policy. The lowest I could find was $550 per year, but it had less coverage for personal property.
Anything worth money they want to do a rider policy.
If it isn't a house or a car they will require a rider policy.

If you are a veteran, USAA will treat you right, but it will cost a little more. I have seen how well their policies work after a house fire.

Going thru the firearms insurance thing right now.  State Farm quoted be $150 for $10,000 coverage, $250 for $15,000.  Going on line for the NRA program gave me roughly the same numbers.  Renter's insurance will only go up to $5,000.

you might enquire about a rider policy that is open...  essentially one you can use for anything, and it isn't specific.  you're simply paying for $$$ coverage then, rather than a notion on what is hot to steal and what isn't...

i have one for $150k that covers anything i want...  it can be a baseball card collection or an F16 for all they care.  i use it on top of my complete policy.  i don't remember the cost but it was pretty reasonable through farmers insurance...

yeah that's what I have for my business. I asked about it for my home and got a blank look from the agent. So I can get that kind of coverage for my home contents??

Thanks Septic!!!!
