Would like to get a folding rear BUIS to work with a "F" front sight base.
Would like it to have a standard A2 sight so that I can try a CSAT in the future.
Suggestions?

ARMS?
Hear horrible things about the #40 but then also hear good things.
Internet reviews, ain't they great?
I'm convinced that some on the internet, in a review of a dictionary, would describe it as "wordy with no discernable plot line".

GG&G?
I know nothing about them.
They look good.
???

Midwest Industries?
I have a free-float rail of theirs that I like.

I know that there are more, but not coming up with them right now.

Thanks,
Greg

I've had the ARMS and it was just fine, would purchase again. Have the cheap Magpul on one. My preference is the Troy BUIS

I use the Magpul BUIS on my work rifle and it works great.

I have the MI low profile and it works great. No complaints. I would probably go with troy, if I could get it a comparable price. I am a fan of the Matech buis also depending on your needs also.

Admittedly, I am not a fan of Swan, and would not support such a company....but that is just my opinion.  Magpul, Troy, whatever are all decent companies.  Just read the info that comes along with them so you understand how they work.
Understand how to find your mechanical zero and how to adjust for you personally.
If you are going to run them with a red dot set them up as co witness.  If you run them as a true back up to any other type of magnified optic (ie: variable or ACOG, set them up so you can zero them to stand alone in case your optic takes a crap on you....which is why they are so popular.
Granted, I don't know you, or your level of training....but most magnified optics will run just fine without any back up irons.  Red dots on the other hand work best (in my humble opinion anyway) with a BUIS.

I am personally of the opinion that the use of iron sights is a dying art, (that I really hate to see go by the way).  Batteries die, things go wrong, but iron sights have stood the test of time.....basically most folks gadget themselves to death.

Good luck in your search,
Romper

I have a pair of cheaper YHM's and a pair of more expensive Troys. Both fold and I can hit my target with both of them. Do the Troy's looks and feel better? Yes. To be fair though, I'm far from a paratrooper, but both sets have been dragged though the woods and bounced around in the back of a pickup.

The Magpuls are polymer. Should be strong (see:Pmag) but I prefer the more streamlined, tested, steel.

If you're in the CR area Cedar Valley Outfitters had a bunch of used ones in stock the last time I was there.  $30 to $40 as I recall, don't remember the brand.  They looked servicable to me.

Probably Matech surplus'd units. They show up on fleebay too. There's a lot of discussion as to how they get there, but it seems that the concensus is once a soldier finds them no longer to his liking (for whatever reason) they are considered an expendable item.

Just inspect carefully.

Cedar Valley Outfitters still has a bunch (~6).  They're ARMS and priced at $45.  I picked one up today.  :-)
