Does anybody know if you can by a lower unit from Brownells without an FFL if you live in Iowa.  You would think you would be able to, however I just want to make sure.

Thanks

Really?  You can walk into their facility and buy a lower?  Thats good information to know, I have driven by several times but did not know they could or would sell to walk ins.

thanks for the information.

They told me they couldn't sell FFL items directly to the public.  That was a few years ago though.

I didn't realize Brownells was in Iowa. If you go, ask them where my pmags are. 12/02/08 and waiting.

no p-mags since the first of december.  I have recieved two different shipments of 30 rounders both ordered after that.  30 round black w/ windows on order for 2 months and 30 windowed FDE on order for a month.  Last order showed up last week.  Someone else said that they won't sell FFL items listed by them to people off of the street.  Also in Iowa, you don't need a permit to purchase for long guns, just handguns.  I was hoping to drive down there because they just had a shipment of POF gen III lowers show up on their webpage as in stock.  Price was kind of high, but they were still in stock and just a little bit over factory.

Maybe next time

You have to have a permit to buy and a copy of your FFL holders licsense to buy one and walk out the door with it.
The way I know is I was just there last week and asked what was needed to buy a lower from them.

Agreed, need an FFL.....not sure about the copy of your FFL's paperwork though.  Never done that, usually I bring my FFL buddy along for the ride.
Last time I was there, they told me that they didn't have a magazine in the place.  Kinda scarey.

you're not wrong, but it isn't that easy either.  generally they have to have arrangements made prior to you showing up.  there is a process of transfer so to speak with most any firearm and the dealer is responsible for the 4473, etc.  while it can be done similarly to the way you stated it, few dealers will do that and i don't think brownells encourages it.
