I'm getting ready to order a new S&W MP15T from a dealer on Gunbroker.com within the next week. Anyone have any input on either my choice of rifle, or where I'm getting it through? Good experiences or bad...This is my first AR & I'd like to make sure I'm making the correct choices. Also, along those lines, once I get the rifle, is there anyone that would be willing to show me the in's & out's of cleaning, disassembly, maintenance, etc...I'm a big fan of not blowing myself up if something doesn't get put back together correctly. I live in Sioux City, but would be willing to drive a bit (an hour or so) for some proper instruction.(some shooting would be fun too)

Thanks

If you can post a thread, you should be able to disassemble, reassemble any thing that will need cleaning.  There are a ton of videos on Youtube, also check the cleaning/maintenance thread in the AR-15 Forum.  No experience with the smith & wesson, I bought a Rock River.

Good luck,
welcome to the club.

First off welcome to the addiction. Second, I can't say 100% but I have heard of issues w/the S&W models. When they first came out they were insanely priced I belive they had magwell issues. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I have heard enough that I would buy another brand personaly over them. Other options would be RRA, Bushmaster, Spikes, or if you want to support an Iowan company Superior Arms(just don't use p-mags ) I have no issues with gunbroker.com except they are kinda pricey when its all said and done. After paying shipping and FFL transfer fees the money you thought you saved you could have supported someone local that would also show you the in's and out's of the rifle. Also you would have someone to go back to easier if you had any problems. I am a big supporter of local buissness because of that fact even if its the local Gander Mountain(who sells S&W ar's). But I try to use the mom and pop shops first.

As far as cleaning and such. Its super easy thats the beauty of these rifles. I built my first one after only owning a .22lr plinking rifle for a couple of years. Now my collection of firearms are growing at an extreme rate.
