in the spirit of keeping the wives happy we told them they could go this time. i dropped the camera and it didn't take several pics. we did have a huge crowd this time. plenty of mud running. plenty of miles. we put on nearly 90 miles via ATV from 11AM to 6PM. we stopped frequently and shot the shit. good times.![]() got some video of mike nearly tipping his rig on it's side. he had the mrs. with him. she likes the fun, but isn't much on towing them out of the mud or the occasional flip over... creek crossing also, you'd be surprised what you see in the middle of the road... sometimes you just have to shake you head and giggle a little... ![]() the wind was terrible. it was a blessing heading north, west, and east, as it carried the dust and gravel pieces away from you. heading south it was as if we were getting sandblasted... terrible. i thought my wife and i were going over on a steep ditch so i jumped clear. she was fine, but the guy behind me ran over my arm and hand. you'd be surprised how little it hurt. not bad at all. it looks like shit though. |
what the hell is GEOCACHING? i think i fixed the link. let me know if it still doesn't work. yeah, we were just scooting along and there was this huge carp in the middle of the road... i suppose it fell off the back of some guys truck or something along those lines. everybody kept driving, but i stopped to take a pic. i thought it was hilarious... |

Well geochaching is sort of a treasure hunt for nerds, LOL! http://www.geocaching.com/ You buy a gps, go to that website, set up a free account, and find the geocaches near whatever zip code you type in. It's a lot of hiking around in the woods, city parks, public places, etc and the only goal is to find the hidden object. Once found you log the date and your name on a slip of paper and maybe trade little trinkets in the cache. We've been doing it for a few years. We even canoed accross lake okoboji (from south to north, then back) just to get to a cache that was only accessible by boat. Then I bought a canoe to get to a few hidden ones along different rivers in Iowa. It's a fun time, but a lot of hot humid hiking in the summer. The best times are having a little fun with the wife, in the most remote areas of Iowa. LOL!! |

sounds like a blast! we should do that at an ARFCOM gathering and leave behind boxes of bullets, 30 rounders, etc... that could be a good time. if nothing else it would be fun for those folks who bring their kids... just thinking out loud of course... does the link for you now? |
I used to do that a lot when I first got my GPS. It is amazing how many caches are out there. I almost did on with morels last year. Good exercise too. |
Your missing out! Geochaching is good family fun. Of course I've got a few battle scars from pushing 4 wheelers /dirtbikes a little to far. It gets expensive when not only the machine gets wrecked, but also yourself. I would say that I may outgrow it, but who am I kidding. The new "free" OHV park in Fort Dodge is a blast and those table tops are definately not only for bikes to catch air on. |
