I will back from training and will be hosting a shoot for anyone who wants to try out the AR45 carbine that uses grease gun mags, at the Key City Conservation Club near Madison Lake Minnesota, on Sunday, 27 August. The range is East of Mankato Minnesota. I can't be there on Saturday, which was the original day planned, as I have to run the rappel tower at MSU, Mankato for our new ROTC students that day. This is a BYOA (bring your own ammo) shoot. I will have a fair amount of ammo but I don't know how many will show, so I don't know how much ammo is needed. Also, the 30 rounds mags go fast as the AR45 is a blast to shoot. I plan to have 3 prototypes available to shoot. One has been modified to use Thompson mags. The upper is not finished for Thompson mag use but the lower will available to shoot with GG mags and to display the versatility of the AR45 lower. Justin of CNC Gunsmithing will be there and plans to bring some 10% lowers with him for sale. As we get closer to the date, will set up a link up location in Mankato where we can meet and I'll lead everyone out to the range. Let me know who is interested and who definitely plans to be there. Thanks Tango Chaser |

My in-laws have a cabin on Lake Jefferson between Waseca and St. Peter so I'd be just a little south of you if I were to go up there. If I can get up there I'd be interested in checking out the AR45 as I have plenty of GG mags and Thompson mags for future use. What firearms are allowed at this Key City Conservation Club? If I come up I'd like to bring some of the Class 3 toys and shoot if it's allowed...I'm a 03FFL/SOT. I've been interested in a .45 AR lower back when CavArms was thinking about it but don't believe they're pursuing it now. Thanks for posting and I'll try to check my schedule out and see if a road trip is feasible that weekend. |

Heads up. The date may change by a week or to into September as Justin from CNC might need more time to knock out some 10% lowers he is bringing to sell to anyone who wants one. I'll post the final date here. The date is flexible but the shoot will take place. Looks like we will have 3 prototypes for testing the day of the shoot. |

I mean 10% lowers. The magwell needs to opened up (Justin left a thin shelf that needs to removed), all the holes need to be drilled (most are center marked), and the FCG area needs to be milled. Followed by anodizing. The magwell can be opened up with a drill and a saber saw followed by some sanding. I used CNC gunsmiting's AR15 drilling jig and it worked great despite the extra wide AR45 magwell. The 10% lowers would be a great project for a BBQ type build. Just need to have someone with a milling machine to sponsor the event. |
