uggh,  I was so ready to get home from Oklahoma last night,  just to get to the Whapeton exit at 9:30 pm to findout the interstate is closed from Whap/Breck to the kindred exit.  I talked to the HP that was there to find out that i had to go 60 miles west to hwy 1! 160 miles out of the way!!! and it was pouring like mad out there.   sorry i have no pics of the whap end,  i left my camera out in the car in Oklahoma,  Unfortunately my wife decided to bury it in the trunk sometime before we left.  I will get some pics though.

Dike pics FTW!

On a serious note, my parents are in Moorhead and sandbagging as we speak.

Good luck up there!

Unreal how it's come up in just one day.  I lived in Thief River Falls when the big one came in 1997.  I remember sandbagging for several days straight.  The high school got called off and students sent to Grand Forks.

My mom is in Mandan.

She said the missouri is flooding some areas in bismarck already. Fox island and southport areas being evacuated.

In mandan the heart river is getting very high but not flooding yet. If it goes over the dike there she is screwed. She'll have a basement full of water and no flood insurance.

Minot area is having flooding problems to.. I have a lot of friends that live in the downtown area and most of them are having problems with basement floods. Not as bad as some of your folks but still worth noting :)

Were getting flooding in lake madison SD but not this bad. All the schools got called off and students told to go help sandbag, but there was under 200 of us there helping.

Its not looking good for you GF guys, better call FEMA and start to blame Bush

Are you on the base? I actually live in the downtown district and I don't have any problems with flooding on the 2nd floor.

The business below me does not have water in the basement, I was down their with the owner earlier!

However, the southwest part of town, they always get water in the basements....I will never live over there.

I was watching the video of the the last flood that the tv station from GF made and they were talking the flood level at 53' back then, this year they are talking 43' but keep saying this is going to be worse?  Don't get me wrong I really feel for anybody that is about to lose their home and place of work but is this another case of the media spinning their own story?
And it is mazing how these two parellel each other down to people out sandbagging in a winter storm.

Anyway good luck and you all are in our prayers!!!

We in Grand Forks are at 43 feet now, the projected crest is 53 ft.  They're likely talking about where the flood level is currently on the news.

Get ready brothers in GF. Mother Nature is not screwing around with this one. Fargo/Moorhead is pretty much going to get fucked with this. It is going to be a river flood here in Fargo and it is going to wipe ALOT of property out, not only becouse of the new crest prediction today but more becouse of the duration it is going to stay at crest levels and devestate temporary dikes. This is not 1997, it would pale it in comparison to what is upon us now, and the river flows north. This is not highschool and colledge kids getting out of school to sandbag bullshit it is going to be get every contractor with with every piece of earth moving equipment in ND/MN they have.

I might be driving up to help. Its going to take every able bodied man and a good shovel to prevent some serious damage. I still say call Obammy and ask FEMA to come fuck everything up and give you all trailer homes.

this is our field/drainage ditch and county road a few days ago before it iced up. The county road is washed out where the deep drainage ditch crosses the road. It has gotten deeper around our farmstead, but since we are frozen around here, you can't tell what is water and what is snow.
this is all from overland flooding since we are 25 miles from a river.  All this has to head north!
