| I just my lower yesterday.I want to register as a pistol. How does michigan measure the barrel ? Does it count the muzzle device? What iam trying to find out what is the longest barrel I can use & meet the under 26" requirements? How does it work with the upper? Do I have to fill out a form 1? I tried finding the laws on this ,all I could find was about cpl. Is there a link any where? |
| Scroll down a page or two, theres a current thread going. I built one thats 25.5" I am in the process of making one that will be 27.5. I think You can still register as a pistol, but cant treat it as such with a CPL. I would like to know for certain tho. The 27.5 " upper with a 10" barrel and a standard buffer tube will measure about 27.5 with most standard muzzel devices. |

All true. Its the over 26" oal, with a shorter than 16 barrel I have concerns about. In other words, a stockless rifle? But even with the under 16 barrel? Am tempted to go with a shorter barrel just to be safe. Thoughts?
I should add, without the flash hider its under 26, and its not permantly attached. Just threaded on with a crush washer. |

My LMT 10.5" with a unknown brand carbine length pistol RE measures 25 3/8" from the end of the RE to the muzzle without the FH. My 10.5" 300BLK with the RRA pistol buffer tube measures the same. Safe to say a 10.5 with a standard length RE is under 26"OAL. ETA: the Phase 5 tube is standard length. |

I can't find anything on Michigan's web site Because it's not there. Some say MIchigan defaults to the Federal way of measuring, some say MSP says the same thing. What matters is what the Prosecutor wants to due, who you are and if it's an election year. I don't want to take 50 hours of counsels time up @ $350 per to get undone, when it's so simple just to stay 26" or under. |
