Reportedly, the state House is on third reading of the following bills:

021 - HB 5450 (Shirkey) Weapons; firearms; mail order air rifles; allow.

022 - HB 5748 (Rendon) Weapons; firearms; reference to certain repealed definition in the penal code; eliminate.

023 - HB 5749 (Pettalia) Weapons; firearms; regulation of spring, gas, or air operated handguns; repeal.

024 - HB 5750 (Franz) Weapons; firearms; definition of firearms; modify.

---------------------------

Short version: If these pass in the House and Senate (and the governor signs them, not a given, as we've seen in the past .... ), air rifles will no longer be defined as firearms.

Wow. Long time coming.  Between this and dnr allowing air rifles for hunting, in theory, a felon could buy an air rifle and hunt with it.....  Kinda spooky
