when I did it, I bought it, the seller gave me the paperwork that I filled out and took to CLO- where I also got my prints done.  Then I took the application, print cards, check for 200, two photos back to dealer.  He sent it all in and 6 months and a week later he called and said my stamp was in and come pick it and my can up.

I'm almost positive you need to buy it first and the dealer must have it in possession at his facility. You'll need the serial number to put on your forms to send in. You fill out your forms, get your prints and pictures, and send it in with $200. Wait a really long time and forget you sent anything in. One day out of the blue far into the future a letter will arrive with your stamp and you will suddenly remember you bought a suppressor. Then you take you stamp to the dealer and he will hand over the suppressor.

This is where i have heard info both ways.....some say that the stamp has been mailed directly to them, and others have the stamp sent to the FFL.

Mine personally was mailed back to the FFL, and they called me to let me know it had arrived and come pick up my suppressor.  I do not know if it is in how the Form 4 is filled out or not....i will look mine over to check and see.

Not positive, but I think it's just how the Form 4 is filled out and if the dealer is willing to do any of the work for you or makes you handle all of the forms on your own.

The answers to all your questions.

Short version, buy it 1st, then do the paperwork.

Pro tip:  Buy something in stock, preferably at a local dealer.

If you buy something on back order, no telling when you'll get it.  If you buy from out of state, then you have to wait for the dealer transfer, which will add about a month.
