8 points and one arrow at 9:10 am this morning.  It started out a cold uneventful morning with nothing moving.  I had two doe come in around 8:45 but they were about 80 yards out and kept moving.  Around 9:00 I saw this guy come along down the same path and had time to put my binoculars on him.  I thought I counted 7 points before he disappeared behind some pines to my right.  When I got one more glimps of him coming across my front, I set up for a shot out the front of my blind and like magic he stepped out about one minute later.  He turned, I saw the flag go up and I took the shot, full frontal chest shot around 35 yards.  The shot entered high and just inside the right shoulder, nicked the arm pit open, and came out on the opposite side 2/3's of the way down his belly.  Missed the heart and only got one lung, but he bled like nothing I've ever seen.  When we found him three hours later he was looking right at us but couldn't get up, not wanting to waste a broadhead I skulled him with a field point at 40 yards.

BTW..... That is the arrow you can see out the left side of his head.

The rut is finally starting around here. Had a 2 y.o. buck chasing and grunting this evening. even the does responded to my grunt calls.

My brother in law watched a button buck trying to spar with a spike, said it was the funniest thing he's ever watched.  He took a 6 point off the same property last weekend and we've seen plenty more.  But for some reason every rack we've seen has been oddly small in dimension.  My eight point had the mass I'd expect from a large four point or a small six point, and the BIL's six was even smaller in mass.
