Greetings Michigan ARFCOMers, I would like to know whom you consider to be reputable to perform a transfer of 2 AR's (one M4 type & one SPR-ish rifles) to family who live in Midland. I am going to pay the transfer fee.
I am an 01 FFL licensed gunsmith here in New Hampshire, so there won't be issues on my end as far as getting it there. I just wish to do business with those who are "good guys". Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate it. |

Kevin Williams at Williams Gun Shop in Auburn is also great to deal with... http://williamsgunshopauburn.com/ |

I have NEVER heard anybody have anything bad to say about Williams Gun Shop in Auburn. Kevin is a GREAT guy. Fuck Sheridan Arms. Bunch of overpriced, condescending, tools work there. I would imagine their transfer fee is higher than anywhere else, but that is my guess. I flat out refuse to do ANY business with them, so I haven't bothered to ask how much they charge for a transfer. Go to William's Gun Shop, in Auburn. They take VERY good care of you. Plus, if you order more than 2 guns/lowers at once, it IS possible to talk him into cutiing a deal on the transfer fees. Of course, I'm in there so often, that when He's busy, he just lets me come behind the case, and get out whatever I want to look at. Make friends with Kevin, and he will take GOOD care of you. Yes, I'm a little biased. $25 transfer fee. Also, 10% down, 10% a month layaway, on ANYTHING in the store. They are also in the process of getting approved for their Class 3 license. EXCELLENT selection of guns, and gun stuff. Joe Gun, in Sanford does transfers. I'm not sure how much they charge, but the guy's prices for pretty much everything are on the high side, and the selection sucks. About the only time he has a Black rifle in there, is when somebody having him sell it for them, and (Like the EE) Everybody wants to try to sell their beat up gun for the NEW price. Occasionally I will stop by, and get Surefire batteries. YMMV ACE Hardware, in downtown Midland. $25 transfer fee. The guy behind the counter on any given day may or may not know much about guns, but I haven't ever heard of a transfer going poorly. Their selection is limited, and their prices are a little high, but not bad. They also sell hardware. Duncan's Outdoor Shop, in Bay City, on Salzburg. $35, OR 10% of the value of the gun. Whichever is MORE. And THEY determine the value of the gun. Use at your own peril. I used to go in there all the time, until I discovered William's in Auburn. Duncan's has a good gunsmithing department, their gun prices are about average, maybe a little higher than William's, and they have an indoor range, from 25 yards out to 200. The gun selection is on par with Williams; LOTS. The last time I went there, I only wanted to buy targets, and it took them half an hour for anybody to take my money so I could check out. The place was DEAD. They know me by name, and I was VERY unimpressed after this last time I went. To the point, that I will only go back to use the range. They allow 50 bmg, so my options for an indoor range are limited. Glenn, the owner, is also NOT a fan of "Evil Black Rifles" and only started selling them once Smith and Wesson came out with the M&P15. He carries a few models, other than S&W, but not many. He sells them mostly out of necessity, because every other shop has ARs for sale. I doubt they will go Class 3. Dunhams does NOT do transfers, and the dipshit behind the counter knows nothing about their overpriced guns, or ammunition, both of which are in rather limited supply. I stopped into the new store in the Mall, just to look around, and won't be going back for gun stuff. |

I've used Pat Hansen for dozens of transfers. He is an AR15 shooter as well. Pat Hansen Midland Shooter's Supply 680 1/2 Poseyville Rd. Midland, MI 48640 $15 per item. http://www.gunbroker.com/FFL/SearchForFFL.aspx?st=Zip%20Code&sv=48640 |

I will solidly second Pat Hansen, always been smooth deal. and only 15 bucks +1 Pat is the real deal for transfers in Midland. Guys, thanks for the replies. Just got off the phone with Pat & squared the deal. I can't resist $15.00 transfers, and he seems like a decent man. AR15.com comes through yet again. Thanks for all the help, fellas, I appreciate it.

I've done transfer with Pat once, it was completely fine, i just don't buy a lot of guns online. |
