Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend First to Fight Tactical Solutions; Carbine class.
Some of the topics we covered were weapons malfunction drills, shooting on the move, and room clearing tactics just to name a few. It required 400rds of 5.56 and 100 of pistol of your choice. I will say it is a lot to cover in two days BUT it is not overwhelming for the student either. Class size was kept to 12 or 13, meaning when you are on the fire line running through the drills the student to instructor ratio is just right. CPL: Hansbarger and SGT Ned were very professional and top notch. One of the perks is they each have 8 years experince in the USMC and are both Iraq vets with combat experience. The class was held at The Oak Hill Gun Club in Portland. Very nice facility. It's a decent size trap club and they are VERY open to FTF using their facilities for training which is nice to see a gun club catering to EBR's. The material they presented was very matter of fact and practical to real world situations. CPL Hansbarger's wife was on deck the entire weekend and cooked grub for both days, breakfast and lunch. If you left hungry it was your own fault believe me. They also made sure to keep everyone hydrated with coolers of water and gatorade. One thing that I really liked about the class is they send you an e-mail that lists out all the drills you performed in the class the previous few days. It's yours to print off and take to the range with you so that you can review each drill you learned. To sum it all up, great class, great people!
