Anyone else experince one this weekend? I went to pick up a new TP9 from my dealer and he said a lot of people have been getting delayed lately.
I just hope I don't get denied for some reason. I have a REALLY common name and didn't put my SSN on this one. I'm stressing out! First time I've ever been delayed. |

Quoted:
CPL takes care of most gun stores. But, I just made a purchase at Dunhams and they could care less. I told him I had one and he just looked at me funny and said he had to called it in. Because of the CPLs that still need to be called in the big stores just call all of them in. This Nov they will be gone so maybe then they will change the rules ? |

I call in several NICS checks per day and I haven't noticed any increase in Delays, other than one that matches the overall increase in NICS checks that goes along with the fall season. You'll be fine. In the future, use your SSN. Should help anyway. |

IIRC after a certain amount of time, they have to give it to you. Written right into the NICS law, isn't it?
Find out what that time frame is, and if the shop doesn't oblige, take back your money and tell them to go F themselves. Especially if it's just a matter of a few days. |

After three days the shop CAN release the gun to you but they don't HAVE to. Lots of shops wait for a "proceed" no matter how long it takes. Sort of a CYA thing. Can't really blame them, as occasionally NICS comes back with "deny" responses after those three days and then you get to help the Feds find the felon you just sold a gun to. OP: in the future, use your SSN. If this still happens, apply for a UPIN. Check out the ATF's web site for more info. |
