Alright folks, I'm gettin' serious about smoking and grilling for large crowds (20 - 40 people)... neighbors and family seem to flock over to my house whenever we are home on the weekends to get fed.

From what I see, there are two manufacturers local in Detroit - GrillKing and Quality Grills.

GrillKing seems to use thin steel and I just can't find enough feedback on Quality Grills (although they look nice).

Does anyone have a hookup for someone that fabs up heavy duty cookers with around 1k square inches of grill space (and possibly a firebox)?

(I've been looking on Craigslist)

Where abouts do you live?  Just get me to within a couple blocks...My nose will do the rest...

No help other than that...  I bought my FIL a smoker grille from Meijer a few years back.  He bought the smoker box and used parts from his old gas grill to make a combo grill.  It has held up good so far but it isn't as large as you would like.

Not sure where you are located, but this place makes a lot of hog roasters/grills and I see them around town (Lansing).  I am sure most decent welding shops could hook you up.

A friend of mine makes really nice smokers from 55 gal drums.  Vertical, so it probably doesn't have the surface area you're looking for.  However, they are really nice and he makes some GREAT food on them!  Powdercoated, chromed, wheels, bottle opener, etc..
