In case you haven't seen the other thread, we are putting on a free clinic and reducing the match fee to $10 for new shooters for the next match (May 8th). If you can swing the date, that would be a perfect time to come try us out.

180 rule not enforced huh?

I did not analyze the two videos like an NSA geek, but I did not see where either Tom’s sidearm or rifle broke the 180.  However, here is the exact language from the rule book.

SECTION 1 SAFETY

  1. All…

  2. ...

  3. ...

  4. Any shooter whose firearm breaks the 180 during active target engagement or is pointed in an unsafe direction shall be disqualified. This does not apply to holstered sidearms, rifles hanging on slings after transition, or shooters using the SUL position. Interpretation of this rule is not to include the permission of uprange movement in SUL

I'm not trying to be pissy here obviously, but when he runs to the last stage prior to dropping prone, and when he is advancing right toward the camera man, isn't that breaking the 180 rule?
I just want to make sure I'm clear, If I'm going to come and shoot I want to understand the rules in use.

I was the MD of that match and was wacthing this stage being run by Tom, the camera man was to his right and well behind the line of fire and Tom had his muzzle pointing to the right at all times.  It may be more obvious to me as where the camera was as I am familar with the range layout.

Kinda like this.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Muzzle Direction

_____________Tom___>__>____>___>____>____________

__________________________________Camera____________________________

Does that make sense??  While his body was facing the camera his muzzle was pointed up range.
