So did anyone go to the one in Lansing? One of my coworkers said she went, but didn't go into any details. She wanted to know what the "Tea Party" movement was all about. When I told her, she said that was a good idea. So was the Lansing one any good? The buses were about an hour or so late, but it was still pretty good - I think they said there were about 1,500 or so people there. Maybe a handful of counter protesters and a carload or two of folks that drove by yelling obscenities - always nice when that happens in front of the kids.

| The Lansing Tea Party was good. We got there around 7pm and stayed until it was over. There was one guy heckling people shortly after we arrived. I just don't get some people. Ignore the morons, don't dignify them with a response. We started up in the back by the road and when it started, we were on the top steps of the capitol. My children learned a very important lesson in civics that night. They learned that even the opposition protesters have a voice. Wrong as they may be, they still are allowed to voice their opinion. That's more than they would be willing to give us. I'm glad we took our kids. I know they enjoyed it as they were all smiles, no "when are we leaving" questions. I think the two best things were the one black guy from the tea party who said he was not an african-american, but instead, an American. The other was the guy who did the rap song said & he was of Mexican descent. He said something about being the only rapper with his pants all the way up. I'd buy both of those gentlemen a been anytime. |
