So I am trying to sell my firearm and I have no idea how to go about the process.  I am planning on doing it locally (in Michigan) but I'm having a hard time finding out how to do it.  Can anyone point me in the right direction or help me out at all?  Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Selling a handgun face to face is a pretty simple process.  Your purchaser must either have a purchase permit they obtained from their local PD/Sheriff or if they have a Michigan CPL they can use the RI-060 form.  Don't sell unless the purchaser has one or the other, otherwise it's your butt...

Here's a printable copy of the RI-060 for use if your purchaser has a CPL:   http://www.michigan.gov/documents/ri-060_6454_7.pdf

In either case you and your purchaser completely fill out the forms, you keep the sellers copy and you're done, your purchaser is responsible for properly submitting the agency and MSP copies to the PD or Sheriff where they reside.

With no need for a FFL to do transfer?  I didn't know that.

As long as you are both residents of the same state and doing the transaction in that state there is no need for an FFL.
