[ARCHIVED THREAD] - GO BLUE! (Page 1 of 3)

Today was a great game to watch. Finally it feels good to have a winning program again. Tate Forcier looks like he will be the starter. Hell, of all the other big 10 teams I watched today and flipped back and forth, he looked THE BEST. Even better than that Terrelle Pryor homo. Western Michigan aint no slouches either, they're a GOOD MAC team. GO BLUE! |
|
Quoted: I'm looking forward to next weeks game. It will give us a better picture of where the program is in the rebuilding stage. No doubt. But I think everyone is all reading too much into ND's big win. They were playing against Nevada which IIRC was THE WORST TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL last year. So of course Clauson is going to have all day to throw to his receivers that are going to torch Nevada's secondary. I think Michigan whipping WMU pretty bad is alot more impressive, considering WMU is probably going to be the MAC champions this year and has a NFL caliber QB. |
Huge U of M fan here! It was great to watch them actually understand and execute this new offence. For all the haters out there understand that this is still a rebuilding season, but we will be competitive while rebuilding! I think somewhere around 2010/2011 we will be a force to be reconed with. As for this year... Im happy with an upset over ND, MSU, and OSU!
|
|
Quoted: MSU will squash Michigan . You guys sound like Lions fans (one big win and headed to the rose bowl !!!!) . Ohio State will destroy U of M and so will ND . I predict Rich Rod. stepping down after this season . Sparty plays against a D-IAA team and thinks it means they will crush Michigan. hahaha. Lay off the crack pipe. |

Sparty plays a D-IAA team and crushes them, unlike App State. That was under Lloyd Carr.... Rich Rod employs a high octane offense and defense. Spartans are in trouble come the 3rd of October |
|
Quoted: dare i say toledo...... Again, 99% of that was Lloyd Carr's team and that was the year that RR put in the new offense and defense. Now that he has more of his players he needs, and it has been a year since then, they know how to run this system. Yeah he needs MORE guys, but this is gonna be a scary time for people who hate Michigan. |

Things to ponder:
I only went back to 2002 as it was readily available info on the site I went to. If I go back any further it only strengthens my point. Look MSU is an awesome school with a respectable football program. While I went to UM, I would be proud if either of my children attended MSU. I know there they would have an opportunity to receive an outstanding education and even a chance to become a crazy Sparty fan, but I get sick and tired of MSU fan jumping in on a pro UM post and talking their crap. You can think it all you want, but MSU will always be the number two team here in the state of Michigan. Furthermore, you'll lose this coach to another program just like you lost Saban because no coach worth a damn wants to play second fiddle in any state with two big time football programs. My suggestion to Spartan fans would be to enjoy your current success, relish your win against UM every 2-3 years, stop letting your little brother inferiority complex ruin your football season and accept your role in the Big Ten conference. You have a chance to have a winning season and go to another bowl game. You can do all this and it has nothing to do with how many games UM wins or loses other than when they meet up on October 3rd. GO Blue! Good luck Spartans! |

It's nice to see the rivalry actually means something again, where both fan bases are really getting into it for this game. After Saturday, I wish the Irish luck. I hope they do well all year... EXCEPT against Michigan. ![]() |

Quoted: Yeah. I was always a fan of Notre Dame, but I think I became a big fan when they were pretty much the only games I could see when I was stationed in Germany.Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: I'm looking forward to next weeks game. I predict Rich Rod. stepping down after this season . Sparty.......... Sparty28 where are you? Thoughts on today's games?????????? I'm waiting to hear how long the memories of CMU waxing your Sparty green a$$ will linger in your long history of being handled by yet another MAC school. Don't worry, you can struggle thru another mediocre football season and yet some how get off on the hopes that you'll beat Michigan and find your way to the Motor City Bowl. Good luck next week as you travel down to South Bend to face a pissed off Irish team. Is that a 1-2 start I smell in your future? |
|
Quoted: Alright. Any of you Spartan fans want to declare again after losing to CMU and Michigan beating a very good ND that you guys are going to beat Michigan? ![]() My Irish didn't do too well today. They looked real good moving the ball in the first half and then turned to mush. I predicted a 9-3 season for them, so we'll see how it goes. Michigan made the big plays they needed to make. Kudos to the Wolverines. |

Quoted: Quoted: Alright. Any of you Spartan fans want to declare again after losing to CMU and Michigan beating a very good ND that you guys are going to beat Michigan? ![]() Who said ND was really that good? Remains to be seen how the season plays out. True, but they have as much talent, if not more than USC. Clausen had ALL DAY to pass, because the Wolverines couldn't penetrate and his pass were extremely accurate. He was picking apart our secondary. So far, they (Irish) look pretty good this year. I think ND is going to demolish State this next week |

Yeah , this was a sad weekend . But STATE is going to wax Michigan all over the field this year in East Lansing !!!!!! This was a typical lucky win by Michigan . I think ND might be overrated . Michigan State is still trying to figure out what quarter back to use .
I will hate to see Michigan play Ohio State this year . Its going to be ugly for the maze and blue!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA I will never admit defeat !!!!!!! Im a true Spartan!!!!!!! |

Hope you can take it Sparty, I just watched the replay of the MSU/CMU game and while CMU got lucky with the onside kick and again with MSU jumping off sides on the game winning field goal, they took it to the Spartans and I think if they played 10 times on a neutral field CMU would win more than they would lose. GO BLUE!!! |

There is a terrible lack of discipline on the team (stupid penalties that ultimately cost us the game). The win over Montana State was unimpressive, despite the high score. I think State is going to have a tough season. I was thinking of going to Homecoming, but we will see how things play out over the next couple of weeks. Mike F |
| Michigan Football just pisses me off. Of all the years I have been watching them they never just quite seem to be able to get over that hump and be a contender. It seems lately that all we can look forward to is beathing MSU and watching us go down in flames to OSU. To me U of M is the worst of the elite programs or the best of the also-rans. Do you realize that in the last 50 years we only have half a championship more than the Lions?? We have many more wins but to me that's meaningless if we don't have a shot at the title. |

I think our stock is starting to raise alot in terms of the possibility of beating OSU. OSU barely survived AT HOME against a Freshman QB and a USC team that is basically in a complete rebuilding after MOST of their seniors and such left for the draft. This USC is NOT the same one it was a last year or the previous 8 or so years. Yet, they still came into the Horseshoe and beat the Buckeyes. Plus Vesty's (Tressel) teams have always struggled against spread teams. Look at what Navy almost did. Now imagine this. OSU has to play at the Big House..... and against Rich Rod (the guy who practically invented the Spread and is a genius in that system) who has talent firepower of any major program. I think we can beat those Buckeyes this year if we keep playing well. |

I'm not saying UM can't win against them, I'm just taking a moment to enjoy the rebound from last seasons disaster and looking forward to the next 2 weeks(Eastern and Indiana) to work out the remaining kinks in the defense. After that we get into the heart of the schedule and we'll find out where this program really is. |

| Hey Sparty!!!!! Is Notre Dame a little better than you thought or does State just suck? If they can't win over in Wisconsin next week and some how find a way to lose to UM on Oct 3rd, that would put them 1-4 to start out the 2009 season. All kidding aside, Spartans played a pretty good game today. I think they should have ran the ball in the last couple of minutes and taken the field goal for the tie and tried to win in in OT. Their offense was playing better than ND at that point. Once again I think they will be looking at the UM game as a way to salvage their season and that will have them stoked for that game. |

You were probably one of those last year calling for Rich Rod's head and whining about the year Michigan was having. Well like it or not, I bleed GREEN I graduated from MSU and will never leave them. They haven't gotten the breaks to go just right this year, but they will bounce back and keep pushing through this season. They are still a very young team at this point. |
|
What has really annoyed me over the years about MSU fans is all the years of domination by Michigan. They always had to live through the successes of OTHER teams in beating Michigan because their own team cannot get the job done. Like at work guys who were NOT OSU fans, would cheer the hell out of them when they play Michigan. I just think that the mentality of a loser fan base whose team hasn't been able to get the job done, so they gotta root for someone else to beat us. |

To me elite is not wins but Championships. If we're supposed to be that good I'm not settling for anything less. Whooping MSU year after year is fun but once again in the last 50 years we only have 1/2 a championshop better that MSU and haven't been in serious contention for at least 15 years in the final weeks. Don't even get me started about Michigan Basketball |
