No kidding, Lumpy, what's up with that? Just come shoot. Don't get worked up about "how you'll do." No one cares (I'm proof of that!) Its a good time and good people and hopefully, good weather. Come out, give it a try. I promise you'll be back.

First timers have to supply everyone else with ammo for the day  All kidding aside you will have fun.  This will be my 3rd match and the first two were great.  Fun people and a chance to hone you shooting skills.

$25 for non-members.  Bring eye/ear pro, automatic magazine fed rifle with a sling, pistol with holster, couple extra mags for each and some way to carry them on your body.  Round count will be less than 200rds rifle and 50rds pistol.  Signup starts at 9am.  If you like shooting then you will love this, just dont over think it.  We have a lot of fun.

Ask to be squadded with Tom. I'll walk you through everything and make sure you're ready for the stages. They aren't very difficult, but it can be a big help to have another shooter show ya the ropes a bit before jumping into the mix.

As Barb said, shoot once and you will be back!

TFin, if cougarnw, does not make it, or even if he does, there is another guy who might be interested in being in your squad.  He has quite a bit of pistol competition experience under his belt, but indicates he is not at all familiar w/ combat carbine/rifle use.  Though I may have convinced him to attend, I am not the guy to be giving advice.  We can discuss it before the match if you are willing to help.

If your coming down 94 it's only another 25 minutes, not counting construction issues, if you coming thru Lansing it about 35 minutes farther.  Jeff

Go make a post on the ACTS forum asking about a carpool. Almost guarantee you'll find someone. Like Steve said, we have people coming from as far as Port Huron, and we have one member that even drives down sometimes from Traverse City.

Lots of people drive together from the east side and most of them didn't know each other until they started shooting these matches.

Only one is an axe murderer and even he behaves ok most of the time.

I don't claim to be an expert but I have no problem helping out. Is he all set for gear or should I bring extra?

I think we have gear covered.  As far as I know, the most critical, missing piece of gear is AR mag holders, and both Kyle and Arc are bringing something to the match for him.  He is very experienced in handgun competitions, but apparently new to combat rifle/carbine.  I told him the VTAC and Vickers 2-point slings are all the rage, and he indicated he picked up a 2-point sling.  If he needs extra mags he can borrow some of mine.  He will be all set for ammo.  As far as advice, just the basics.

We shoot in the rain, in the snow,in the heat. Unless there is lightning or a tornado we shoot. Always bring appropriate gear in regards to the weather. This would include water or something to drink and if you wish something to snack on.

Shooting in differing climes and temps add to the "Out of the box" factor that makes shooting an ACTS match what it is. No day is a perfect day and understanding how you and your gear work in those differences will make you a better shooter.
