Hello,
A friend is going before the Macomb County CPL/CCW board to get his permit to carry. What should be expect? Should he study anything? Any common mistakes? Thanks |

I think they pretty much just ask you about your criminal history and question you as to why you want a CPL. If I can remember right, there are 3 "People" you appear in front of... State Police, District attorney, and someone else. cant remember exactly. One will automatically vote against you and as long as you seem normal the other 2 should vote for you. I guess I would just be prepared to answer questions about your criminal past, including traffic violations. During my fathers hearing they brought up a minor speeding ticket from back in the mid 70's. No criminal past or even any traffic violations since that date. |

Mine went something like this:
Board: Why are you requesting a CPL? Me: Personal protection. Board: Random chit chat. Board: Approved, approved, approved. There may have been some random stuff in there but that was about it. ETA: Sheriff Hackel, a state police rep, and another person were on mine. |

One even had a flee/elude police misdemeanor charge several years in the past. The board asked for explanations from these people, but otherwise no hassle and they were approved. I am going to guess that the people applying that have obvious disqualifications are rejected early and not even invited to the board. Chances are, if you get called to the board you will most likely get your CPL. |
