| OK, so I'm out of time in my House search, and probably only have time for one more city, Warren. What can you tell me about it? Whats the crime rate?, any areas to avoid? Does zoning allow home based light manufacturing? (Was playing with the idea of a manufacturers FFL someday in the future.) |
| Stay north of 11 Mile rd. Most of the South End is gone to shit. Most of the 911 runs that I pull in Warren come from south of 11 Mile, and run the gamut from assault to flu like symptoms. Nicer areas are N of 12 Mile, west of Schoenherr, and go all the way to Dequindre. Hope this is some help. |

My brother in law was at Toepfer (basically 8.5 mile) and Mound 'til he moved out in 95. In the 50s that was a hardworking decent area but it has taken a nosedive.
Stay North of 11 mile. Crime is everywhere but if you're considering moving THAT far South and having a home based FFL business you're gonna also need several trained Dobermans and claymore mines. Perhaps trained Dobermans wearing claymores. |

All the ones I've looked at are south of 9 mile, just how bad is it down there? What's the best area South of 9 mile? South of 8-9 Mile is a Target Rich Environment!
If you want to be that far South, head East also to Grosse Pointe Woods or St Claire Shores. |

This is the area that I work in-don't do it.Assaults, break ins, car jackings, plus the assorted drug trafficking in the area. Dobermans wearing claymores would be a good start. |

Warren unfortunately has changed with the times (like all major metro areas) for the worst.
You don't want to buy a house South of 9 mile under any circumstances, no matter how "good" the price is (unless you are getting it for free) due to crime and with few exceptions you have a strong chance of getting undesirable neighbors and being a more frequent victim of property crime (car theft, breaking and entering into your house) and maybe even assault or robbery. All house prices are good right now if you are looking to buy. I would strongly suggest buying North of the I-696 / 11-Mile line. If you don't have the money to get a decent house in a decent area, then rent. Save your money. Fortunately for you (and unfortunately for me) it appears that house prices, especially in Michigan, will keep on dropping... For what you want to do (FFL, etc.) you'll need to wait until you can move to Texas or New Mexico (I think these are the places with the most home gun smiths, buiolders, etc.) Remember, Michigan is a Liberal / Democratic state, and to those people guns and gun owners and especially people in the gun business are evil and likely to be targets of serious harassment in the future.... |

Yeah I know, but unfortunately a move out of state is just financially impossible right now. |

There are times I wish I'd rented instead of buying this house I'm in! I'd have one less thing tying me to the state... I've considered a move out of state as well. |
