My brother passed away last week and his wife gave me his hand gun.  How do I transfer it over to me without his signiture?

Believe that you need the Executor of his estate to sign off on it, guessing that is his wife.

I am sure someone else will chime in that has had to do this at some time.

I had my father-in-laws pistols transferred to me after he died.  My mother-in-law signed the RI-60 forms, and I brought his death certificate to the PD with me, just in case.

No problems, and they didn't want to see the death certificate.

Most jurisdictions will want to see a copy of the Cert of Death. Photcopy is fine.

Sorry for your loss.

From the don't ask, don't tell perspective, why not just have his wife sign the forms and mail them in.  I would hope the MSP put a policy in place to deal with forms that are submitted with missing/incorrect info and will contact you if necessary to request additional info or to re-submit.

From the CYA perspective, it's probably best to just call the MSP and ask them how they would recommend/prefer you handle the situation.

I did one a few months ago from my deceased uncle. I put my aunt's, his wife, info as the seller. She is the owner as she takes over his property. She signed it and it was all set. The totally "correct" way would be for her to reg it in her name from him then reg it from her to you. But most PDs wont bother as the end result is the same with less paper work shuffle.
