So today I went and took my registry test. As I am waiting for my results some of my co-workers told me I have to apply for the state license. I've searched for an online application but am having no luck. As you can tell I've never done it before I didnt know if it is the same for EMT-I/P as it was for basics so thats why I titled it the way I did
Anybody got a link or do I HAVE to mail it in? |

Its been awhile since I have taken my EMT-B. But when I took it, we were given all the paperwork needed. This of course was before the NR and I know things have changed a lot.. Luckily I'm still grandfathered in :).
I'd call whoever you took your class through. Your instructor should be able to get you all set up. |

As I recall before my class ended my IC had us all fill out the state's paperwork. So I went and took the National Registry test and got my results back like 8 weeks later and I got a notice in the mail from the state of michigan saying I passed as well and they wanted a check for my med licence.
That was like 3 years ago so I don't exactly remember any more. I just got all my CE's done to renew my license which is up in July. But it's different getting your license then renewing it. |

Here is all the info you will need.
You can submit your application for License for two years after you complete your course. Your instructor will have already sent in a roster of all persons that completed the class. You have taken your test through the National Registry, and the registry will submit the results to the MDPH. They (MDPH-"The State") will match up your application, class roster ( to make sure you completed requirements for class), and your results from the National Registry(provided you pass the test) and you will be issued a State of Michigan License for what ever level you applied for. You will also receive a National Registry card. It is up to you if you want to maintain the National Registry. I recommend you do. Never know when you will need to leave the state and find a job elsewhere. It will be good for 2 years. The State does not require you to maintain the Registry. Your State License will be good for 3 years, and is your responsibility to maintain if you want to practice medicine, in the form of a pre-hospital professional, under the license of a Doctor while on duty. This link is to the state website, for your application. Good Luck, Bob FF/NREMT-P/IC http://www.michigan.gov/documents/mdch/License_Packet_4-07_197521_7.pdf By the way, your instructor should have explained all this to you. |
