I'm looking for a good place to take a few of my guns to get appraisals done in the Detroit area.  I have a few really nice military rifles as well as a few newer rifles that I want to itemize on my homeowner's policy.  I'm looking for someone who can provide a written appraisal with realistic values for these weapons, a professional appraiser who knows his stuff.

Any recommendations?

PS.  Two of my rifles have custom work done to them and I'm looking for someone who can id this, not just someone who will look in a book and spit some numbers on a piece of loose leaf hinking.gif

I tried Cabela's once.  What a waste of time.  That was at the Wisconsin one, maybe Terry knows his stuff though.

The insurance company won't used appraised values unless it's their guy - most will tell you that you'll have capture S\N's and Model #'s, list accessories, save receipts, and take pics.

Try shooters service in Livonia. One of the guys there does appraisals or at least used to. I had a couple of mine done for insurance purposes. If he's not still there drop me an email and I'll dig out the app. form and get his info for you. I don't remember how much because it was a while ago but there was a charge. I did get a professional app. form that was recognized by my homeowners insurance.
