Well, i talked with one of my cousins who lives in the farm area and it is kosher to shoot up a car at his place. I got a hold of a scrap hauler and he will pick up the car after we are done. Just wondering how many people would be interested in shooting up a car. Basically I just have to cut off the gas tank and put a large tarp under the car to catch glass and we can go to town. Would just need people to chip in on a crap car and we can get it organized and planned. If no one is interested i will do it myself, but i figured some people might be interested and would help curve the cost of a junk car. Let em know what you all think, and if your interested. Then we can try to get a weekend meet organized. |
LOL, things happen, thats why i am going to cut out the gas tank, i am not trying to trash the place. The house isn't technically on a farm, just surrounded by farmland. It is a decent rural spot and i have been shooting there for years. The place is by linden, it is about 15 minutes west of flint, can get there pretty easy from I-69. Well i did some searching and even the cheapest low dog junk cars are going for 300$ because of the Steel Scrap Price. The plan is to try and get 10-15 people together at the cost of 20-30$ each. After we shoot up the car the scrap guy will haul it out and pays 75-150, which is going to the cousin for letting us use his land. I had to make it sound good in order to allow us to devastate his place. So even if there is only 5-6 people who are willing to chip in it would make a fine day full of fun shooting. Since we will putting down a large tarp we can bring all kinds of interest crap to shoot up aswell. But i really want to shoot up some cars and 300$ is to much for 1 day of shooting for 1 guy. |
I might be in for this PS, drain all the fluids before hand as well |
| Yeah, thought bout that, will prolly tell the cousin he can pull the motor and tranny to sweetin the deal if he will pull the gas tank. Really the motor is the only rock solid potential for danger with a chance of ricochet. Even if we can get 5-6 in that is only 50$ a pop, which i would happily pay for a few hours of demolishing fun. |

After having shot up cars for about the last 6 or 7 years at Bulletfest, maybe I can offer you some hints. The tarp on the ground is probably gonna get tore up pretty good due to ricochets and stuff leaving the vehicle at a high rate of speed. If you don't want to start the car on fire, you will need to triple check everyones ammo to insure nobody has any tracer or incindeaary ammo. This stuff can and will cause a car to burn. It is pretty easy to start a car burning using tracers or incindeary ammo. I don't think we have ever had a vehicle escape burning at Bulletfest. One of the more unusual fires actually started from brake fluid that was leaking after the car had taken a bunch of hits. If one starts burning, you can pretty much forget about puting it out unless you have a fire truck on stand by. Once they catch fire, the fire grows quickly until the car is totally engulfed. This is what they look like when they burn......... ![]() ![]() Heres what they look like once the fire burns itself out.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Lots of pictures here www.bulletfest.net/pics.asp |

i would be game.... what do we have for a backstop incase the cops come out? i could bring my 1919 semi and some other toys, but i need to find someone with a welder and work on making a stand or mount for it or brake down and buy a tripod but if all else failes we can just sand bag it like ive been doing |

Gettin the car hauled if it deosn't run is something i am going to have to work on. See if i can't work something out with the Scrap Hauler. Also as far as backstop, there was a large dirt mound last time i was out there, not sure if it is there anymore.. We have never had the cops come out there, all the neighbors know him, he is a good ole boy and we have never had any problems. But then we have never set up an organized shoot. I was hoping to do it this month sometime. I mostly wanted to see if there was an interest before i started on working out the details etc. |

I could bring a couple guys. Thats only about 10 min away for us. Money is tight though. The company just went insolvent and checks bounced. I already have another job and taxes are comming. ![]() I may have access to a car trailer. Truck is a maybe. Maybe a dead van too! |

I will head out there in the next couple days and scope it out. It seems there is enough people to do this so after i go and talk to him we can set a date, he is pretty easy going, i just want to make sure he wont back out later.. If there isn't anything for a backstop i will have to talk him into letting me dump a few truck loads of dirt out there etc. |
