Ok, so Friday I call down to Total Firearms looking for a Mossberg Cruiser 500. They told me they had them all shipped off to the gunshow but they had persuaders in stock with the same length barrel (18.5) for the same price but i could buy the grip and it will be identical. Ok fine, will cost me an extra 20$ but I don't have to wait for the gunshow to come around my area. This was all on Friday, I call down there today and once again, "yeah we have 2 18.5 inch persuaders, i am looking right at them" so i take my hour and a half half drive all the way down to Mason and get there and they don't have them. I tell them look i just drove a long ways just to get this gun, called twice on it, both times i asked them to pull the gun and they told me don't worry we have enough. I stand there for almost an hour while they keep sending me to different people, finally at the end they send a cocky 16 year old kid to me, basically to tell me tough luck. He told me they were all gone to the show, and asked if i had it pulled. I told him i asked them to have it pulled and they told me don't worry about it. The kid told me well thats to bad because we don't have them and you should have had it pulled. I called as i was driving down there and they reassured me they had 2 in stock, kid just told me he didn't know what I was talking about and was just snide. They left me standing there for 45 minutes to tell me tough luck. Yeah Total Firearms are the people who run the gun shows, I won't ever buy a gun from Total firearms again, I would rather pay more and not get treated like dirt. |
| I have had Williams do that to me before also, but Williams is a 10 minute drive compared to 1.5 hours. It wasn't even that they didn't have it that pissed me off so bad, it was that the older guys wouldn't give me the time or an explanation, it was that they sent a snotty 16 year old to tell me to fxck off. |

I bought a "new" handgun that turned out to be Used when I registered it. Then, when I took it to the range it simply would not run. So, I took it back and asked for a refund. They refused, only offering in store credit. Argued for half an hour and was told to pick something of like value or leave and take my gun with me. Mason's a long drive, so I sucked it up, pulled a rifle off the rack, they cut me a 'deal' on it that brought it down to a normal retail price, and threw in a range bag. My asshole is still sore from that one. The owner even remembered the gun when I came back in... they were going to fix it before selling it, but it "must have been packed in with the stuff for the show"... |

I had a glock repaired their and they put a nice ding in the frame...their reply was " Its works does'nt it !". I put the gun in my belt, and walked out refusing to pay for the repair work. The short odd ball guy with glasses follows me into the parking lot and says he called the police. I said great lets wait for them together...he then told me to get off their property. Their range master is a real ass as well. While I was shooting once he reaches in from behind me to look at my ammo.I had the box on the shelf in front of me. I put down my gun and ask "What are you doing!" He said he was checking to see if I had factory loads or hand. I asked why wasn't I asked that when I got the safety speach upon arriving, he forgot to ask. I then asked why didn't he wait untill I was done with my clip before interupting me, he said, I am the range master, it's my call on my actions not yours. I packed up my stuff, went to the front desk to inform them of range masters actions and the response was "what's the problem". They have become real idiots. I used to shoot their every other weekend, now forget it! |

To compensate for dragging me half way across the state they coulda offered up something, they were just bein prxcks the whole way around. From this point on i will not buy anything from any local shop that is being like that, if their business dies off and it all goes to the internet then it is their own fault. And the sad part is these are the folks who cry the most about the internet taking their business. Serves them right, we got options heh. As for a range, i have never gone to a range, i just stick to local land so i can't offer any recommendations. I would suggest Williams but last few times i was in there store there was a ton of thuggies shootin there. They were being obnoxious assholes. |
Yes they do. Believe it or not, the nicest guys I've run into selling guns work for Cabelas (evil empire), the retirees are the best, because they don't give a fuck what management says, they're just there to talk and sell guns. A lot of private shop owners are crusty turds who would rather wipe their ass than talk to you. Then you have the 'employees' who have an attitude as well - if they're such badass', why are they working for $7 an hour soaking up welfare checks. |
From what Ive seen and heard over the years,a gunshop employe is about the last jackass to listen too.Just the other day I was looking for some5.56 and asked the guy if they had anything heavier than M193."This stuff is military and 69 grs their aint much heavier than that". Whatever,if you dont know isnt it better just to keep your mouth shut.

Actually, believe it or not, I have dealt with some very friendly and helpful people at Dick's and Walmart at the ammo/gun counters. Now, when I say helpful, I do not necesarrily mean ex- super-dooper special teams operator with terrific teaching skills. I am talking about lack of ego and the willingness and capability to listen to what the customer wants and try to meet that want. |

If gun shows would go back to what they should be and not overpriced flea markets we would all be happy. I am starting to look at jumping the boarder to Ohio and Indiana gunshops and shows due the greif I have had to deal with in Michigan. Ohio and Indiana allow long gun sales in person with out an FFL transfer. Then again its easier for me to do since live close to both state borders. Kentucky does as well, if your into the drive on a Saturday. |

As far as attitude goes, I stand in awe, sheer Awe at one of the guys who works at Target Sports in Royal Oak... Don't know what his name is, but he's the short stocky guy with a pony-tail. Last time (and I mean "the last time I will ever go back there") I was there, my Dad and I went to go use the range. We shot for an hour, then I walked out to the counter to rent the lane for another 1/2hr. so we could finish up the ammo I brought. Now mind you, I had been a customer in the past and knew the guy was a Tool of the first order, but I wasn't prepared for him to just walk up and say "NO." like I was a piece of dirt or something. No conversation, no discussion, just "NO". I didn't know whether to shit or wind my watch. It sucks that I can't go back there and patronize the place because I bought my first gun ever from the owner back when he was just dealing guns at Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor. I suppose I should have said something to him, but I figure that if he works around this guy's attitude every day he is complicit with the behavior. |

I don't understand these guys, really i don't. I am a prick by nature and the way they treat people i wouldn't even think about doing something like that. So far, from what i can tell almost all of the older retired guys are the absolute best to deal with. From Gander Mountain in flint, i don't know the guys name but he has an old school long mustache, he is great, and Al at Williams, those are some of the greatest gun guys i have met, the rest of Williams isn't so great, rude treatment etc. But Al at Williams went above and beyond when the police screwed up my permit and i had to get it redone twice etc. I buy a lot of random guns and if someone treats me right i will go out of my way to visit their place even if they cost more. I would rather get treated right and get questions answered and proper help and spend and extra 50-100$. I don't know why this industry is such crap, cuz every actual gun guy i have met is some of the most chipper guys, they are always stoked like a lil kid gettin a new bike, were never rude, were always happy because the wife isn't trying to chew us out over a new 1000$ Kimber when it could be better spent elsewhere. It just deosn't make sense. And personally if i ran a shop and i ever seen an employee get rude for no reason i would flip out. In a few years these shops will be obsolete completely, we don't even need them now but it is still habit when we want something quick. But after that whole incident i don't even just want to stop going there, i want to burn em and make em feel it. If they had any kind of real internet presence i would ruin it, but they don't lol. The hobby community goes through the same thing, i have only een in 1 decent hobby shop, the rest are junk and treat you like crap. They get off on trying to make you feel dumb. It is just nice when you run into these kinds of staff and you know more and turn it around on them. The only thing that really keep these guys in business is the the older gents who don't know they have other options so they deal with the 16 year olds dogging them.. Sorry for the ranting, i have been up wayyyyy to long. |

Well, if it will make any of you guys satisfied, after reading this post myself and my wifes uncle are changing are travel plans on going to this place. He wanted to try out some guns and then buy one and this was our target to head too. looks like its baycity now. Zar |
| Well....many of us "gun guys" are know-it-all genius', who spend quite a bit of time dreaming, drooling and talking shit. I've met plenty of gun dealers, who will never get any of my business, but I've also met plenty of "shooters", who are probably the reason that the gun-dealing business has so many assholes in it. |
| Yeah, Ray still owns the place. I usually pop in once a week. I havent had any problems since I started going there since ray bought it. Im guessing he inheirited some of the former staff and has since broomed them out. The old staff was kinda snotty though, I remember that much. |
Believe you me, there is none of either in my life right now - just got engaged and turned 30 in the same weekend. My comment towards the employees was harsh. But when I go in to buy a gun after researching it for a month, and these self proclaimed experts give me bad advice or an attitude, what kind of value do they offer me? None. I probably spend more on guns\shooting in a year than they make for a salary. |

I went out to Williams again, i went to the Al guy again, he didn't remember me but once again he was nice as they get and as helpful as i could possibly want. so +1 for Williams if you see AL, -1 if you see anyone else He is one of the older retired types that are strictly there for the entertainment aspect, you know, hang out and talk about guns etc. |
Whatever,if you dont know isnt it better just to keep your mouth shut.
