If I'm not mistaken. Isn't it time for the Midland Gun Show in the next few weeks. |
|
That seems to be par for the course with most Michigan Gun shows these days. It wont change till we start to complain to the show promoters and tell them we will not be back to buy garage sale items... Seriously, why would I want to buy blankets and crafts at a gun show? Go to Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana (others as well I am sure but those are the only states out of MI I have ventured to for gun shows) and the promoters do not allow that crap!

I find it somewhat hard to believe that you found an abundance of flea market crap at the Midland Gun Show. I've found it to have the least amount of non-firearm related stuff of any show in this area, and certainly less unrelated junk than any of the "revolving" shows. If you read the rules for the show, this year tables on the main floor may be closed with no refund if they are not firearm/knife related. I might suggest that if you find tables that do not adhere to this rule that you bring it to the attention of the officials. I believe that the entire venue (instead of half as last year) is being used this year, and there will be a seperate section for sporting related items that is seperate from the main floor ( for "..taxidermy, outdoor art, and other related items") Here's a link to for more info. www.mcsc.info/gun_show.htm |

That is good to hear, I hope the other show promoters will hear about it and follow their lead! And you are right it is the traveling show that has really gotten bad! Bill Goodman still does shows in OH, they aren't bad... I wonder why he left MI? His shows were better than the others. MCSC is one of the most active gun clubs out there it seems, we are lucky to have groups like them... I wish there was a club like that in my area which had indoor shooting with their hours! |

Well just got home. I do not think I was in there for more than an hour. Lots of people, if you are looking for hunting rifles it will be a good show for you but the prices were on the high side for sure. I had a couple nice rifles for sale and no real bites, I do not know if people are not spending money or it was just too early in the show for people to start buying. Not much in the way of AR's (and the few that were there were quite pricey!) nor was there much of anything outside of hunting related items. No ammo to speak of. It was nicer than the other shows as there were no flea market items, the show staff were all very friendly and the facility was very nice. But I think I am done with gun shows around here for a while.... |
I also went up to the Midland show today. To call it an average gun show may be giving it too much credit. Lots of over priced beat up antiques, very little in the way of black rifles and no .223 ammo other than some over priced Wolf. I can not believe that there was a line over over 200 people waiting to get in and pay $9 per person for this show.
