I received a neat letter from DeVos's campaign today. It asked for donations but in the letter, he spoke about the US Constitution, the 2nd Amendment, his "A" rating from the NRA, and how the 2nd amendment should not be infringed for sporting or self-defensive purposes.

Has anyone else received a similar letter? I'm not sure how he got my info other than from the email I sent inquiring about his views on gun rights, SBRs, pre-86 MGs, and sound suppressors.

I received my American Rifleman today and on the cover it lists "No Endorsement" for Governor.  What do you make of that?

G.L.S.S.A. (Great Lakes Shooting Sports Association) just sent out their election issue.  They gave both Devos and Granholm an Acceptabel rating.  Hmmm, I'm going to re up with G.L.S.S.A. but I'm not to impressed with their memory right now.

WTF, over. This makes no sense at all. I hope DeVos is as genuine regarding RKBA, but I'm pretty damn sure Granholm is NOT going to legalize SBRs anytime soon if something like that were to hit her desk. DeVos might approve of such changes in the law.

They're cutting her slack. The NRA did issue an A rating for DeVos and a B- for Granholm, so DeVos is on top. You see, we have these weenies within the pro-gun camp that are defending Granholm for signing the NRA's Castle bill and some other non-controversial pro-gun, pro carry measures. The bottom line is she is philosophically anti-gun. Politically she has recognized the fact that if you piss off the gunnies you loose elections. So her actions are political calculations and as I've said in the past she has diffused the pro-gun vote, evidenced by this rating. In a lame duck term she can do what she wants and say what she wants to say with little to fear from the gunners.

How much more do you want from DeVos? He's made the most pro-gun public statements that can be made. Granholm has not.

Mike, I agree. I never considered Granholm to be a friend to supporters of the RKBA. The Castle Doctrine was never her idea in the first place and had it not been an election year, it probably would have been shot down. DeVos is the first candidate to have ever sent me a letter showing his support of the 2nd amendment!

I recall lots of letters from other candidates in the past with bold statements and goals of taking away all guns.

Caste doctine was VETO PROOF!
It didn't matter if she signed it or not, it was going to become law anyway.

Yup - a political calculation. If she signed it she looks ok in the eyes of some gunners i.e. neutralized the issue and not given the gunners a reason to really come out to vote her out of office. This has an impact all the way up and down the ticket.

If she didn't sign it then perhaps the legislature had enough votes to override a veto and it becomes law anyway. If this would have happened the gunners would be pissed that she didn't sign it, there would have been a severe anti-Granholm get out the vote mobilization campaign and her NRA rating would have probably gone to an F.

Generally, Michigan gunners have been doing OK on their voting habits but OK can be improved on. There is no reason for us to be represented in D.C. by people like NRA F rated anti-gunners Stabbenow and Levin when we have so many gunners and hunters in the state that can vote and make the difference.

Gunners have the opportunity of a lifetime here in Michigan to elect the top of the republican ticket all of whom are NRA-PVF A rated pro-gunners being DeVos, Cox and Bouchard. If gunners are not energized and mobilized to vote then we loose the opportunity to replace known anti's with known pro gun candidates.

The longest shot of all is the Bouchard - Stabbenow fight. Bouchard is 10 times the person that Stabbenow is. If gunners don't come out in mass he has no chance and again we loose representation in D.C. and re-elect an ardent anti-gunner. Bouchard is right on the issues and it's gonna be a damned crying shame we can't get him elected because the momentum is not there.

This is why we need the gun vote energized, excited and mobilized, not neutralized by the Granholm is OK camp because we loose momentum and get stuck with the anti-gun status quo.

Devos made his Money and fame in Grand Rapids.

Just a couple Miles up the road.

His 2nd Ammendment stance ain't on record or in my memory as standing out in the past.

He's an ass Maggot political puppet of a sham industry.

Don't ask me what I think of that Foreign, inbred, Hair lipped, Sister lusting satan worshiping garduate of southern Kalifornia.......

The auto Censor will lock up and kill the site.

Lets just say that Jenny needs to move back to Kanada, and Devos needs to move on to better things.... like Marketing to Scientology followers instead of Farmers and hard working factory folks here in Michigan.

The only reason either of these poop pile feasting flies will get elected, is that most decent folks will either be at work, or distracted by hunting bambi.

Lesser EVIL.....

What a choice!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of our associates who is interested in short barreled rifles and such queried the Dick Devos for Governor Campaign as to what his position was regarding assault weapons, high capacity magazines and NFA regulated items such as machine guns and short barreled rifles. The response is rather positive and indicates the Devos campaign has adopted the AG Mike Cox position regarding federally regulated weapons. Cox's personal opinion is Michigan should not be in the business of regulating federally regulated weapons. The Devos statement is not a highly refined statement but it does suggest he is firmly pro-gun and perhaps even pro-NFA. If we are ever to re-write Michigan's anti-NFA laws we will need a pro-gun, pro-NFA legislature and Governor to sign such an act.

The Dick DeVos For Governor Pro-Gun, Pro-NFA Position Statement:

Thank you for contacting the DeVos for Governor campaign regarding semi-automatic weapons and short-barreled rifles.

Dick DeVos believes that, in accordance with the Michigan Constitution, “every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state.” This is not an archaic statement of a bygone era; it is an important guarantee that affects our way of life today.

Dick believes that law-abiding Michigan residents have the right to own firearms whether it is for game hunting or personal protection.

Proponents of gun bans often try to confuse semi-automatic weapons with fully automatic weapons in an attempt to create the notion that there are good guns and bad guns. The fact is that semi-automatic weapons have never been the choice of criminals, and states which have banned them have not seen any significant reduction in crime.

Michigan residents must maintain their right to own semi-automatic weapons if they so choose. As governor, Dick DeVos will not support any future bans on assault weapons or high capacity magazines.

With regard to short-barreled rifles, though they are currently regulated by federal law, Dick supports the relaxed requirements for obtaining them as enacted by Attorney General Mike Cox.

Dick DeVos will work closely with individuals, organizations, and the legislature to ensure that Second Amendment rights are upheld on behalf of all Michigan residents.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your greatest concerns with us.

Sincerely,

DeVos Team

You paid any attention to Politics lately, that is usually the choice, lesser or 2 evils.  But ya know according to Jenny "In 5 years you will be blown away"

IMO Devos will do a good job.  He doesn't need the job, he wants the job.  Besides it never hurts to have a pro-gun Governor.

Tholl,

I keep abreast of Politics.

Both of them flat out disgust me.

Devos will get my vote.

It just dosn't make things any easier or more likeable.

Jenny has GOT to go.
The cost of it bothers me as well.

Stay safe!!!
