Anyone in or around Paradise? I used to ge there as a kid fishing off of whitefish point. Anyhow after I graduated with my masters degree I told myself that I'd take some R&R and head up there... Has it changed up there? Where is a good place to stay near it...etc and most importantly where is there state owned land where can I shoot up there? ![]() ![]() Thanks, Rob |
My wife and I head up to that area and camp at the state forest campground at the mouth of the two hearted river each year. I don't think it's changed much in the past 10 years, with the exception of the enlarged Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point. Not sure on where to shoot, other than it is legal on state land and national forest if you are far enough away from the campgrounds etc. I'd be interested in specific locations to shoot as well. |

When you get back give please give us a report. I was thinking about going for a few days with the emperor but wasnt sure how bad the bugs were going to be. It's been pretty chilly up there at night still so they shouldnt be too bad ( or at least I'm hoping they arent ) You'll be surprised at how the shipwreck museum at whitefish has changed. They've expanded it to several buildings plus the lighthouse and they did it without ruining it. They've made some great improvements at Taquanenon too if you havent been there in a while. If you do the pictured rocks shoreline tour about the only changes are that part of Miner's Castle collapsed and fell in the lake. But it didnt ruin it. Collapse |
I hadn't heard that a portion of Miner's Castle collapsed! |
Was up there for the first time we stayed at what used to be the old Howard Johnsons (northern most hotel in Paradise). It was nice and clean and alot cheaper than the big name hotel chains there. Whitefish Point was great. I had never seen it before but I was impress with what was there (Summer of 2005)... |
