What are my choices for personal protection in Chicago, guns seem to be a big no-no in the windy city. What other choices do I have? Does anyone have any personal experience in this cuty? I have never been their before and will be traveling their with my family for a long weekend. Thanks in advance.

Were will you be?

Downtown is relativly safe, and there is a significant police presence. Outside of that, you really should have mortars or artillery on standby.

You're pretty much screwed. Chicago is a target rich enviroment.

Stay out of the Cambrini type neighborhoods. DOn't look like an obvious tourist. Plan your sightseeing in advance with directions preset to your destinations. Don't flash your cash around, carry a quick opening knife or mace just in case. When you get on the hotel elevator try and be near the control pannel so you control it and not some one else.

I'll be downtown all the time. Do you think a folding knife is illegal as well? 3.1" length of blade.

You might want to hop over to the Illinois forum and see what they have to say...

Im sure they can tell you the specifics of carrying a knife or pepper spray.

Have a great time.
Chicago is a fun town.
