It is just a spot of State Land in Lapeer County just a little north of the city of Lapeer. It works well for shooting due to it's layout. There are no target holder, benches, or range rules. | The PIT is cool! The last time I was their I got lucky enough to fire a suppresed MP5, 1919, supressed PPK, AR-18 w/a real short barrel. The muzzle flash from the sbr was insane. I tried bumping my shotgun, not a good idea. Then I decided I needed an AR. So I bulit one with info I learned here. The PIT is so cool. Actually, the people at the PIT are what make it so cool. Boy, I sure did say the PIT is so cool a lot. |
Landfill it is not. It is an old gravel pit on state land but does occasionally start looking like a dump and to that I'd like to ask that if you bring something to shoot take it home with you. We have organized clean up's about 4 times a year becasue it becomes such a mess. |

I have seen the Sherriffs Dept stop out at the big machine gun get togethers a couple times. Usually it is just to make sure cars are not lined up on both sides of the road. I havn't ever seen them checking paperwork though. Weekends do see shooters using the place but there is usually enough room for everyone. The only times I have ever seen it crazy busy is when the full auto guys put on the clean up shoots. |
