Since the machine guns for under $5,000 thread has dropped off of the board.

I have a few S7W 76 questions.

Wanted to ask if you can use magazines from other guns in them like a Soumi?

For those who own them, how is the reliability?

Also, what other reliable low cost subguns in 9mm can be bought with the C&R?

they can be modified to take sten mags i think, but sten mags are hit or miss, you never know what the quality will be.
as far as low cost AND relaible, the 76 was about it.  you could get an MP40 or MP38, i forget which it is, (shmeiser), somebody who goes to the pit has a s&w 76, i remember firing it and liked it, i just can't friggin remember whose it was. 100% reliability, and we put a few thousand rounds through it.

SW76 does not take a Sten mag, mosified or not. I have a 76 and ther eis no way to make a Sten mag work, period. The geometery of the mag is too different from the guns mag well.
The Soumi, Swede K and Port Said stick mags all work.....some without mods, most require a little "love".
The 76 is a great, reasonably inexpensive, sub-gun that is C&R. It looks modern and functions quite well.

Reliability depends. If you shoot the piss out of +P+ or steel case ammo you will probably have issues at some point. The weak link seems to be the ejector as one of my co-76 shooters has found out. He has put together a nice little fix but it requires welding and refinishing of the gun. That is the one drawback to me about the design....a welded ejector. My gun shoots quite well but it is still stock configuration and fairly new. I personally have put over 7K through it but when I bought it, it looked almost new so........if 7k with minor stoppages for one reason or another is what you call reliable than perhaps a 76 should be in your future.

whoops, i did some checking and i stand corrected.i think Lumpy223 either has one or has some experience with them, i know he was looking for one after he got his C&R, he would have good info probably
