I'm gonna do the Hiwassee River Memorial Day Weekend if anyone else is interested..........................?
For those whom may not have a kayak, there's rentals of both sit-on-tops & inflatables available right on the river. I would assume a PFD & paddles come with the boats as well. PFD's are REQUIRED when anyone is on the river for ANY reason, BTW. This is in Polk Co., TN for those whom may not know where. Specifically, Reliance, TN. They normally begin letting water loose from the power station around 11am, so one would easily have time to drive in from the Mid-TN area that morning. I plan on hitting the river roughly noon-ish. Tubes are also available for rent although they can't keep up with the kayaks in the calm water stretches. They're fun for the ladies and/or kids though. Hope someone can make it!

| Took my canoe down the Hiwassee last summer: it was a real blast and I can't wait to do it again. I can't go Memorial Day weekend because we'll be in Ohio, but if anyone is on the fence about going, give it serious thought. Very mild whitewater and a beautiful area. |
