I'm just over the border in Beech Mtn NC. Was supposed to have 5 friends come with me. All canceled for various reason at the last minute. (been planning this since before Christmas)
Now i'm staying at my cabin so I didnt get stuck with canceled reservations or anything like that. The drive from Jackson took about 8 and half hours on friday, mostly because of that ice storm that went through earlier in the day friday. Also stopped at the grocery store in Elizibethtown to grab all i would need so i didnt have to go down the mountain til I leave on tuesday. Everybody told me I was crazy for coming by myself. THEY ARE THE CRAZY ONES!!!!! Conditions are great. So glad I decided to just rock it out on my own. I just got back in from about 4 hours of night sking under the stadium lights they have up. Because its night time the lift line was non existent Worn smack dab out. I just got a fire going and I'm about to cook something. Hamburger Helper or Tacos, havnt made up my mind. NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION up here on the top of the mountain Finished one book I had been reading last night, probably gonna start another one tonight.......though i did cheat a little bit, i have redbox dvd that i got in Elizibethton when i stopped , so I may watch that
I put my cell on airplane mode so it doesnt drain the battery constantly searching and brought it with me yesterday and today to take pictures with. when i get to some type of signal I will post pics. Of course I have my G32 and reloads with me. So glad Tn has a reciprocity agreement with NC just had to let everybody know, life is good in the world of Deadeye Post your latest life is good story, we need it cause lately its been mostly doom and gloom |

i went to breckenridge week before christmas. they didn't have much snow in colorado yet so only a few runs were open but man was it a good time.
gave me a great chance to test out my winter gear. temp was as low as 8* and never got above 20*. strong winds (esp on the lifts) and 10,000' elevation. was wearing my silks, condor fleece, tadgear softshell. was a bit chilly but never shivering. |

Goretex or bust for sking....i have Columbia pants and Spyder jacket for outer layer. as long as your base layer stays dry you shouldnt have problems. |

Link to webcam the ski resort has set up at the base of the mountain
Looks like they are agressively making snow and says they hav 6 inchs of new snow today. Conditions will probably be good for the weekend. I see a few people out there going at it. 6 degrees up there today. My kind of weather |
6 isn't that bad. Went to Sugar Mtn. last season and it was -2 at the base -10 at the summit with 15-20mph winds and 25-30mph gusts. It would have been much better if I had goggles , the wife unit forgot hers so I got to have icicles hanging off my eyelashes all night |

Back at it again this weekend. It is snowing right now, not heavy, but it is supposed to do this all day today and tommorrow. We are gonna hit the afternoon session here in about an hour and a half and we are gonna do the night sking thing as well. This time im not by myself. brought 5 people with me. they are geeked ready to hit the slopes |
not sure what the temp was with the windchill, but the guys working the lift were saying -10. Wind gusting up to 50mph. tonight was an interesting night for skiing. snowing so hard that my goggles were freezing up. only did a couple of runs before leaving it to the crazies
looks like its gonna be good conditions tommorrow. Life is Good |
