All,
Does anyone have any land that could be used for setting up steel targets at various distances in western TN? I currently have a spot, but the land owner is very private and won't allow additional people to participate. With the growing number of LR shooters in the area, it would be nice to have a location in which several members could meet up and practice. MSSA doesn't allow steel targets and is limited to 600yds. The instant feedback of steel at extended ranges is freaking awesome! I have several pieces of AR500 steel plates that I would donate to the cause and I have no issue in getting more. Ideally, we could have numerous plates at varying distances from 200-1200yds, or as far as the area allows. I realize I'm searching for a unicorn, as land for shooting in W TN appears to be a mythical creature, but at least I tried! |
| I have found a few places that will let me shoot. It is REALLY hard to find places that will let folks that they don't know shoot. It's hard to find areas around here suitable for long range that aren't used for farming or livestock. I shoot paper at 100. Anything over that is steel. The instant feedback is great. The Tennessee Sport Foundation in Jackson has a 500yd steel range. Good luck in your quest. |

I'm in Fayette county, just outside of Memphis. It would be a drive, but I'm used to driving 1-1.5 hours to shoot extended ranges.
Please pm with details. I would treat the land as if it were my own and would leave it in as good of shape as I found it in. I typically put tarps down to ensure that all of the brass is removed. |

Would be a 2 hour drive for me. Maybe every now and then but def couldn't be an every weekend thing. After July (wife is due with our second kid) I'll be taking a long break from shooting anyway. |

glad to hear you guys are organizing! if you want to come an hour east of Nashville, i have targets to 1100, including reactive targets, and I do LR classes and matches too. We shoot most saturdays and sundays I will get out there, just want to learn before I travel that far! |

Where are you located in western TN? If you're close enough to me, in Lake County, you're welcome to do some shooting around here. I farm, so I have lots of places to shoot. you should *cough* host a state wide TN HTF shoot. I'd so drive there, is that near Reelfoot? |

I'd be willing to take a break from F/TR to meet up once or twice a month for a day shoot. With a few people shooting and spotting, you can learn quite a bit in a short amount of time.
I'll have to try and schedule my next trip back to NC around meeting up for some ELR shooting at the 1100 range. |
| I got a Remington 700 sps tactical aac sd this year and have been turning it into a long range rifle, got the scope, stock, and tuned hand loads but no place to shoot . My personal range is only 100 yards. I would love a place to shoot further and a place to learn from experienced long range shooters. Also waiting on my can to clear. |

Geez...if this comes together I'll be severely outnumbered by savages!
Edited: forgot about the SPS tac. A guy at work has one that was restocked and it is a solid .75moa rifle. Anyone else have any donor steel? Mine are 4-6" squares, 8-12" circles. I don't have any IPSC steel targets. |

Hey Gratio if you want to do a HTF shoot i would come and help you with setup. And yeah Reelfoot is in Lake County.....pretty much everywhere in the county is less than 25 minutes from the lake. |

My house is about 10 minutes from there. I'm in Lake County, but we have land in Dyer, Obion, Gibson, and Lake. I can't imagine you guys that live in the city. I carry an AR or 2 with me just about everyday, and shoot wherever I want to. |
| I'm in for some long range shooting that is within about 2 hours drive or so. Got my Blaser .308 and a Premier Reticles 5-26x56 on it ready to go. Longest I have shot it was 740yards. Would love to see how these 175gr handloads do at long distance. I can do about 1/2" 5 shot group at 200 yards on a good day. |

Hand trimmed M118LR brass measured to the .001" length and bullets weighed to the .1 gr I want to start playing with some Beger VLD bullets but components are getting scarce and I don't like doing new load development in the colder months. I got some Lapua brass waiting for a special load. |

I shoot on my neighbors field when its not in crops or has cattle on it. A little over 400 yards with a mountain as a backstop. But there is a range in town that has a 300 yard range so I shoot there more. It's an hour south of Nashville on I-24 exit 105.
I did just get permission to hunt another neighbor's field for coyotes. According to Google earth I can have a 1100 yard shot so long as the field doesn't have a rise or something to prevent seeing that far. I hope to work my way up to target shooting on his place eventually. I've been wanting to test my ballistics computer at actual targets out as far as I can. Once I get dialed in I would be up for a meet somewhere. |
| I'm gonna see what I can do to have a little get together. I'm definitely busy the next couple of weekends though. The farm that I do a lot of shooting on, especially long range shooting, is about 50 mins from Jackson, & about an 1.5 hrs from Memphis. Right off of the Mississippi River on Great River Road. Very easy to find. I'll see when & if I can set something up. I just have a few things coming up over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully find a day when the weather is as beautiful as it was today. |

Oh boy the first annual GratioFlash HTF Shoot. I'm seeing it being sponsored by L&A ect. I can help set up and bring a Southern Pride smoker from work and cook some food as well. Anyone like BBQ??

1700...I thought you had a place where we could really stretch it out! Well, you can shoot east to west (prolly 2-3 miles), but you have to promise to miss the irrigation rigs! ![]() lol.....if we seriously have someone hitting a mile out and looking for more range I would be VERY impressed. |

What scope is that? Vortex PST 4-16x50, mil/mil, 2nd focal plane Rem 700 5R 24" 308 Burris XTR low rings 20MOA base Excellent choice my friend! I love my PST's. If they had the EBR-2 reticle they would have NO competition sub 1000$. Does anyone have any steel that is larger than 12" that they could bring? |
